I don't know why this issue still resonates. Bill Belichick showed himself to be the game's greatest coach ever over many years. Then, for whatever reason, he became an angry, vindictive fool who put narcissistic self-regard and old-boy horseshit ahead of "what is best for the team" and became an obvious burden. He was for many years a quirky but effective GM, but by the end he was the worst GM in the league, driving the team to such a dismal state that we have yet to recover. When reality changes, perception must change as well. What Bill was and what he became are two very different things. The only alternative to acknowledgment of this is such refuge in delusion as we see in posts here from time to time.
