Patriots Player Departure Official 2023 Patriots Roster Cutdown Thread (final roster in opening post)

I'm starting to sense that Zappe will be activated off PS as the QB2 prior to game 1 - rather than Pats signing a new vet.
I'd certainly prefer a new vet as the #2 all year, but I doubt that will happen.
This gives Pats 10 days of buffer roster room to sort out the IR guys, and get the best OL established, etc.

There was a report that they were looking for a vet QB, but that doesn't mean they'll find a decent one.

Am I being too anxious about not seeing a TE or a RB being signed to PS?

Most if not all of those guys were cut.
Speed made the Roster
Bolden was put on IR
Cody Davis is still on PUP.
Webb, Bledsoe, and Munson were cut.

Bledsoe has been signed to the PS.

Yes. The Pats could have signed players from other teams and they just aren't announced yet.

TE not so much as one of the 344 OLs they have can play it but not having a RB or two on the 53 is.

I do anticipate the team adding at least one to the 53.

Thats kinda why the Montgomery cut was a bit surprising. He might be hurt and intend on bringing him back when healthy...?

Practice squad is 14(?) players deep. The p is a rookie. Keep a replacement around in case.

Three possibilities if Waitman is not put on the Patriots' practice squad.

1. Waitman is cut and is sitting at home when he's needed.

OR

2. Waitman is on another practice squad and is available when needed.

OR

3. Waitman is on another team's 53 -- which putting him on the Patriots' practice squad would have been no protection against.

Waitman was signed to the PS. It's been confirmed already.

With the practice squad rules, a player can be promoted from the PS to the regular roster 3 times. I can see the Patriots doing this with Malik throughout the season to force teams to spend some of their prep time on how to handle him without knowing if the Patriots will elevate them for their game.

I defer to BB in most things, but the logic of having a punter on your practice squad is beyond me.
I don’t know how you can say this after last year’s fiasco at the punter position.
