"The Patriots are not done patching the holes on offense," Bedard wrote. "What else are they looking for? What do the film and personnel execs have to say about Lowe and Wheatley? According to league sources, the Patriots are looking hard at: Tight end, nose tackle, receiver.”
Report: Patriots looking to upgrade roster at these positions
Greg Bedard reports the Patriots still want to upgrade their roster at these three positions.www.nbcsportsboston.com
One perspective on the Folk decision:
Trace might still wind up on the PS.
I think there's a good chance they're seeing who else gets cut to see who might be a suitable QB3. I don't think they like Malik that much to trust the offense to him if both Mac and Zappe go down.I could kind of see a scenario where they go very thin at QB on day 1 to preserve other players before they go to IR.
He must have at least one fan on each coast, eh?Trace McSorley fans from coast to coast are weeping
I could see them hunting for a QB2 also though. What I'm saying is I can see a scenario where neither Zappe or McSorley make the 53 and McSorley goes to the PS, Mac and Malik are the only QBs on the roster on day 1 (though Malik would be listed as WR probably) and then after other guys go to IR, they bring in a new veteran QB2 from another roster who was cut, and game-day elevate McSorley for a couple weeks from the PS as the game-day QB2 while the new veteran gets up to speed. Long shot, but could happen.I think there's a good chance they're seeing who else gets cut to see who might be a suitable QB3. I like him just because he was fun to watch at PSU. Will always root for Nittany Lions. He must have at least one fan on each coast, eh?

Oh, you think Zappe could be the surprise cut? That's a bold thought. I just don't think they let Hoyer go if there was a chance they were moving on from Zappe.I could see them hunting for a QB2 also though. I'm sure they didn't intend to let Zappe go when they cut Hoyer but obviously things evolve over the course of a summer. I don't actually think this will happen but it wouldn't shock me.Oh, you think Zappe could be the surprise cut? That's a bold thought. He's a cheap backup who knows the system. Even if he gets bumped down to QB3, he's still plenty cheap.I'm sure they didn't intend to let Zappe go when they cut Hoyer but obviously things evolve over the course of a summer. I don't actually think this will happen but it wouldn't shock me.
