K turned into a genuine competition.
I think Folk is still a very dependable kicker. But would they waste a 4th round pick on a kicker and cut him?
My bet - they release Folk - who becomes a FA, and ask him to wait till week 2 before signing with another team to see if young Ryland doesn't sh*t the bed. Or, simply put him on IR after cutdowns, and sign Folk back right away.
With Ryland, you're going to have inconsistency.

Worth mentioning also, Folk is on the books for $1.6M in salary and $600K in roster bonuses which are currently LTBE since he was last year's starter so counting against the cap. Releasing him or trading him saves $2.2M in cap space outright.

I think there's a good chance they're seeing who else gets cut to see who might be a suitable QB3. I don't think they like Malik that much to trust the offense to him if both Mac and Zappe go down.

What I'm saying is I can see a scenario where neither Zappe or McSorley make the 53 and McSorley goes to the PS, Mac and Malik are the only QBs on the roster on day 1 (though Malik would be listed as WR probably) and then after other guys go to IR, they bring in a new veteran QB2 from another roster who was cut, and game-day elevate McSorley for a couple weeks from the PS as the game-day QB2 while the new veteran gets up to speed. Long shot, but could happen.

Las Vegas released Garbers he looked good to me.
They just have the next Brady is O’Connell.

Oh, you think Zappe could be the surprise cut? That's a bold thought. I just don't think they let Hoyer go if there was a chance they were moving on from Zappe.

I'm sure they didn't intend to let Zappe go when they cut Hoyer but obviously things evolve over the course of a summer. I don't actually think this will happen but it wouldn't shock me.

He's a cheap backup who knows the system. Even if he gets bumped down to QB3, he's still plenty cheap.

For me, Malik is the question mark. I have a really hard time seeing him making the roster.
