Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Here’s the yards/target for the team. I like this stat a lot.
  • Otton is a bright spot and continues to improve. 8.0 is good for a TE.
  • Evans isn‘t as bad as he seems…9.1 last season to 8.8 this season.
  • Gage is a tremendous disappointment so far.
  • Brate sucks as a receiver (I pointed this out last year before his injury) and hopefully won‘t take Otton’s playing time.
  • Scottie Miller sucks.
  • Obviously every player is affected by the o-line and Brady’s lower level of play due mostly to this (and/or Brady’s physical decline).

The Bucs are really lucky...as many errors/losses as they have, the only teams ahead of them for seeding are led by Jalen Hurts, Kirk Cousins, and Geno Smith.

So I think it’s safe to say that Tua’s job in Miami is locked up going forward. He’s a borderline MVP candidate. So if Brady wants to keep playing after this season I am very confident that Miami is no only an option.

So maybe the Raiders. Carr is definitely out, that “run” is over. And Josh is getting fired I cannot see him staying. So...Brady and Sean Payton to Vegas?

49ers

Brady - Kittle - Samuel - Aiyuk - McCaffery

OT: Never expected Josh McD's season to be this bad. Anyone here follow the Raidahs who can detail what appears to be the issues?

Same issues everyone knew they had, +injuries.

  • Everyone knew the OL had problems, and Leatherwood getting cut was not the only thing that needed to happen.
  • Everyone knew the defensive backfield had problems, and couldn't cover.
  • What everyone didn't know was that Waller was going to miss all these games, and that Renfrow was going to be banged up as much as he is.

And Derek Carr is supposed to be the leader of that team, but he's apparently not been able to get his teammates to do what has to be done, because he was crying about it after the game. So that leads to the question of "who?". Who's not giving the needed level of investment? If it's the holdover players, they'll be gone next year. If it's the new players, that's a GM/HC problem.

They've also got a bye week to fix some things and let injury players heal up, and that's followed by a 7 game stretch where 4 of the games are clearly advantage:Tampa kind of games (Browns, Saints, Falsons, Panthers, and 2 of the 3 other games are at home (49ers, Cardinals).

International snap counts! Bigger roles for rookies Rachaad White and Cade Otton vs. Seahawks.

Defensive snap counts for Bucs vs. Seahawks show Tampa Bay was in nickel for all but eight snaps Sunday. Tryon-Shoyinka missed only four snaps as Bucs leaned on starters up front.

Remember how entering the Rams game, the Bucs were 5-for-50 on third-and-7+ this season? They got three such conversions today -- Julio Jones touchdown was on third-and-10, as was late conversion to Ke'Shawn Vaughn, and Godwin converted a third-and-7.

Never seen anything like it. Late in the game. Outcome is decided. Everyone stayed, was standing and using their pipes along with John Denver. Insane. And awesome.

So is the absence of Shaq Barret even being felt yet?

Despite suffering a hip pointer vs. the Seahawks, Buccaneers’ RB Leonard Fournette is likely to be ready for Tampa Bay’s next game after its bye at Cleveland, per sources.

For efficiency, the Brady-Godwin connection has gone from elite to liability. It was already waning before the injury.

I don't really have a problem with the 2021 production. This season he's clearly struggled coming back from the ACL. He probably won't get back to his optimum level until next season (or he may just be a lesser player post-injury). They have no choice but to keep targeting him because there's really no other better options. Evans will get his targets but he's having his own issues with drops and he's not a versatile route runner. Julio looked great on the TD catch and run yesterday but I'm surprised he didn't come up lame on the play. He's just not going to be reliable. I root for Scotty Miller but he's just not very good. Hopefully Gage can get to 100% healthy for the stretch run of the season. I'm excited about the potential for Otton and White.

post-ACL Chris Godwin also has to go down as a disappointment.

8.7yds/tgt last year and 6.5 this year.

To be expected with ACL injuries... The hope is that he keeps progressing throughout the season, and that he's essentially at 100% for next season.

Speaking of injuries, we can probably now write the Cardinals off:

The Cardinals have received some bad news on tight end Zach Ertz.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Ertz suffered a season-ending knee injury in Sunday’s win over the Rams.

They'll still have more ability to win single games than some other NFC teams, but I think we can consider them done as even a modest problem for opponents over the course of the season.
