Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Yes, how can you be emotionally invested in a guy who plays for another team? Brady's a great football player, but he does nothing anymore for me as a Pats fan.
Brady will be the most iconic NFL player in history.

He isn't just some great player. Richard Seymour was great, Chandler Jones was great. Brady is the GOAT and there will never be another player like him.

If you don't care that's fine, but downplaying his significance to the NFL is laughable.

OJ Howard getting cut by the Bills. That Achilles tear might have been the end for him.

Bucs are releasing safety Logan Ryan, but he's had consistent praise from coaches all camp. He's a vested veteran (doesn't have to go through waivers) so a smart choice to bring back Wednesday after center Ryan Jensen goes on IR. That makes the most sense. @pewterreport first.

That's surprising.

I was surprised at first, too. But this need to keep the IR players on the initial roster leads to a lot of this sort of thing, so I'll go along with Auman's take about a Ryan return post-IR adjustments until/unless I learn it's not accurate.

Please, don't be ridiculous, I wasn't downplaying Brady.

So if I've got everything right, this is your initial 53-man roster for Bucs, once Jensen goes on IR Wednesday.
QB: Brady, Gabbert, Trask
RB: Fournette, White, Vaughn, Bernard
WR: Evans, Godwin, Jones, Gage, Johnson, Miller, Perriman.
TE: Rudolph, Brate, Otton, Kieft

More of Bucs' initial 53: OL: Smith, Goedeke, Hainsey, Mason, Wirfs, Wells, Leverett, Johnson, Walton.
DL: Vea, Hicks, Gholston, Hall, Nunez-Roches, O'Connor.
OLB: Barrett, Tryon-Shoyinka, Nelson, Nassib.

ILB: David, White, Britt, Fatukasi.
CB: Davis, Dean, Murphy-Bunting, McCollum, Delaney.
S: Winfield, Edwards, Neal, Ryan (re-signed Wednesday after release).
K Succop, P Camarda, LS Triner.

Yeah but what you dont get, is you saying he does nothing for the pats. Neither does any other player that ever played here, its about what they did for the pats, he did more for your team than any single player ever and to fans that means quite a bit

So even after Jensen goes on injured reserve, Bucs will have an offensive tilt to their roster -- 27 guys on offense, 23 on defense. Again, this could be tweaked if they add a player off waivers or sign a veteran.

Just to grade this in real time ...
Scotty Miller made it, I had Deven Thompkins
Breshad Perriman made it, I had Tyler Johnson
Gio Bernard made it, I had Nolan Turner So 50 out of 53.

I get this concern. Seventh WR is going to be inactive when everyone's healthy. So Bucs are gambling that Deven Thompkins clears waivers and can come back on practice squad. If not, at least Geiger or Sterns. You want the best 53 + 16 in the system.

Where do you think they are

  1. Better
  2. Worse
Can't say for sure yet. I'd have to see how Gage/Jones get acclimated to the team and how the Oline holds up. I think the defense will be better though.

Once you had Stuard traded, no surprise at four ILBs for Bucs. And I think they'll be in a position to have a solid fifth OLB on the practice squad, where that guy can be elevated as needed for a few weeks, then you decide on putting him on the 53 a month from now.

I agree, but he's gone. Do we have a forum for John Hannah? I loved what Brady did for us here. What matters, if you're rooting for the Patriots, is what the Patriots do, not what Brady does anymore.

Anyway, we all feel the way we feel. I don't feel the way many on this forum may feel, and they apparently don't feel the same way I do. Each to his own I guess is the best way to see it. I probably should have kept my feelings to myself and let the people in this forum enjoy what they want. My mistake.

John Hannah is not Tom Brady. You are downplaying

It's easy to just see cuts today, but making a practice squad can still be a significant accomplishment. James Madison DL Mike Greene and Yale TE J.J. Howland weren't signed after the draft, were tryout players at rookie minicamp. Wednesday they'll be on the Bucs' practice squad.

Anyone putting the name John Hannah in the same sentence as Brady, and using him as a wedge to argue against the point of having threads dedicated to Brady, is so intellectually dishonest and dumb I can barely articulate it. John Hannah might be the best Guard in the history of the NFL. Tom Brady however might be the best professional athlete in the history of American team sports.
