Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Last year was injury riddled, and the team was hit hard at WR and DB. Without that, they probably would have cruised to a repeat. Madden is probably reflecting that.
The 2021 Bucs team had the potential to rival the 2007 Patriots team imo if it weren't for all the injuries. The 2022 Bucs don't seem to be as good on paper.

Nice. I've beaten the Julio drum for a few months.

Limit his snaps in the regular season, and he can also give the other receivers a breather when he comes in.

The ability to go Evans-Godwin-Jones-Gage-Fournette is disgusting.

The injuries were absurd they only had miller/Evans in the second half at WR and there right side of the line were both out.

They’re roster isn’t bad this year especially if Triyonka can take the next level and Shaq shows up

Remember when like 98% of Patriots Belichick fans laughed and stomped their feet in 2020 because Brady wanted more input on his receivers and supporting cast? Lol…

Nice pickup but I wonder what the Jones signing means for Godwin’s availability…
Honestly not much. In my opinion, they just want to have as much « good » receiver as possible in case one gets injured. They don’t want to be in the same position as last year

I’m not sure about the exact snap counts those 1999-2001 Rams teams had, but I noticed the tight ends were rarely used while watching some of their old games. Many times they’d line up Bruce-Holt-Hakim-Proehl-Faulk.

I’d like to see the Bucs do the same.

Nah bro 07 team was something else

This year's roster definitely looks like a step down in overall talent. Losing AB and Gronk is a tough thing to replace, and there will be questions at DE, among other issues.

But a healthier team is often better off than a more talented team by the end of the NFL season.

If Julio is healthy he will produce like AB did.

He still had 14 yds / rec last year with tannehill as his QB. He’ll be fine.

I still believe Gronk plays this season come late November.

The other thing about rosters is chemistry. Hopefully this years team meshes well and stays healthy. I think the defense had only 2 games where all of its starters were healthy and one was the Rams playoff game. Unbelievable.

Injuries and their complete inability to beat the Saints

AB is actually older than Julio which is bizarre.

Only training camp but no diminishing arm strength by the looks of it. That was my only worry he is turning 45 soon after all

Julio Jones’ deal with Bucs is one year with a $6 million base, as @RapSheet reported. There are void years to lower his cap number for 2022.

Todd Bowles said Julio Jones can help the Bucs replace the loss of Rob Gronkowski’s catches and allow them to be creative in offensive looks, especially in red zone.

Wow that’s real money. I’m kind of shocked. He better bring something to the table better than he did last season.
Last year, even with his bad hammy, he had 434 yards on a 14.0 ypc. So he still put up better numbers than Agholor. That's obviously a low bar, but it's with a guy who was, basically, hurt all season long.

Now, I have no idea how that hamstring will hold up in 2022, especially given that he missed a bunch of games in 2020 as well. But, if they can keep him healthy, and he can have a bounce back year, and if Godwin can ramp up to become himself again, this WR corps will be the deepest (and possibly best) the Bucs have had during Brady's tenure there.

It's hard to believe that people used to question Brady's deep ball.
