. I think that's due to his newness to the position. Big upside for a patient coach.

Well we do have Jason McCourty for a year. You’d take him over Rowe I presume?

Well, after the super bowl it was clear the pats needed an overhaul in the trenches and they did just that through free agency and the draft. This is where championships are made.

How would you guys feel if they went Gesicki with their first 2nd rounder?

Doesn’t have first round speed and is more scheme specific to a zone based team. The question is whether he can play man too. Interesting to note that he only gave up a 39.9 passer rating on go routes. PFF we’re saying that he’d be similar to a Richard Sherman type (they’re not suggesting he’d be as good) in the NFL.

But is he a super duper genius like Sherman?

For a guy who doesn't have speed he posted a 38 vertical, 4.03 shuttle very impressive for a corner and bill's favorite event a 6.86 cone time.

I think he'd be great but I want D. He is arguably the best tested tight end at the combine ever. Can't block but not many tight ends who catch can these days.

He does play slower than his 40 speed but that still makes him silly fast for his size. His hands are solid and he can easily be the next Ertz or Graham.

Also I'm high on 2 other TEs almost as much. Goedert and Mark Andrews both look like the real deal too.

I'm a BC guy, so I'd love to see Landry setting the edge for the Patriots for at least the next few seasons.

Yup, he’s got some athleticism but the forty is important for CBs in the first round. His 3-cone isn’t as good, but he’s very similar to Logan Ryan athletically.

I wouldn't mind it. He can't block but if you're talking about blocking when you discuss him you're missing the point. He's a Dallas Clark type.

I'll highlight some positives, since that's only fair. I think he'd be a nice pairing with Gilmore, who is a more technically sound bump and run player. Jackson could be the more opportunistic of the two, with safety help over the top to mitigate big plays if he's overly aggressive, while Gilmore is a lockdown guy who can force QBs to look elsewhere.

One of the benefits of the bail technique that Jackson uses is his ability to see the field and to drive on the ball. Look how quickly he can click and close. Nice tackle, too; I don't think he has issues with physicality, despite what some reports have suggested.

Again, his footwork is sloppy, but he has such a great feel for route combinations, and he knows where the ball is going on this play. Great positioning to undercut the route and score.

Great question. I'd love to be in the room having this convo. I'd love to get together w/ some other fans and have these discussions.

If I was in the room I def want to know any inside insight from Iowa to this very question but I'd probably say this.
Its terms of value he's a great pick. Yes the scheme is an issue but from everything I've gathered his extremely grounded, humble & smart. Again I'd def defer to any inside info there. But from a coachable standpoint he has everything you want.

He'll get turned around at the line, deadly for CB's at the next level. You cant turn ur back to Brown, Hopkins & Watkins etc. He'll bite on fakes. A lot of his issues stem from the line.

Oliver is someone I would keep an eye on. I think he would be our #2 by seasons end & looks like a great fit in man/press. 34 inch arms I believe? He's a ball hawk too. Some of the plays he made were spectacular. I'm surprised both are still on the board tbh.

Oliver more so but Jackson has a ton of upside & is ready to contribute day 1.

@Oliver
So you don't think playing soft, avoiding contact, often watching when teammates around him tackle, no run support .. is a red flag for PT corner?

Id prefer they pass on 2nd tier Day2 potential #1 CBs having Gilmore signed through 2021 . and find a quicker, tougher corner with slot and outside versatility tomorrow or Sunday.. and address other positions today

Two safeties. Reid and Harrison I really covet.

One of them makes perfect sense considering the age of the current guys.

Hurst, Landry, Carter, Jackson and a few other intriquing prospects out there.

Pretty excited for this to begin.

Was speaking to zone/man & if he could ever be a viable man corner. Which like reamer I think is a bit overblown. Its not his strongest asset but I think he can progress there.

As for Oliver its a def a problem but again I wasn't speaking to that.

Meeks, Dawson M.J. Stewart are all guys that perfect fits too & are more of the physical CB's in the class

Tough to say. Rowe hasn't developed like I thought he would. He's consistently right there on plays, but he's just a tick behind too often. I don't think he plays up to his athletic potential. That said, I trust him more in man than I do Jackson.

If we're willing to live with some big plays because Jackson is always trying to make plays on the ball, then he's an overall upgrade but with growing pains. Too easy to turn him around in coverage. Of course, the dividends are great when he guesses correctly.

Er, were you referring to McCourty? If so, then yes, I think he starts at #2 this year. A rookie could surpass him eventually, but I think he'll get the nod.

I would be very very happy with Meeks. Have you watched Yiadom. Tackling is something I look for from a Pats corner and that part of his game impressed me. He’s also a special teams specialist.
