Off season moves

I really like the idea of Vincent. He might be one of the more affordable PGs in free agency. VanVleet would be awesome but I'm sure he wants to get paid long-term. I don't really know Tre Jones' game, but his 6.6 assists and playing for Pop, show he might be a good option.

As for replacing Smart's toughness, it would be fun (stupid but fun) if the C's loaded the bottom of the roster with a Goon Squad. Imagine if we rolled out a poor man's equivalent of Draymond, the Morris brothers, PJ Tucker and Pat Beverly every time one of those 25 straight point runs starts. We would lead the league in penalty minutes!
Absolutely agree!! The guy I'd love to have is Dillon brooks.. a guy to iritate guys, get under thier skin.. ever championship team has had one or 2.. he'd absolutely frustrate Jimmy butler..

Not getting any PG here unless it is a low budget role player .... we have 3 guards who can get the ball up as needed .... ball runs through Tatum ... not a PG ... we now have a big 3 and Brogdon and White and maybe Timelord gets healthier. GW will be a sign and trade ... Horford who knows.

A few more thoughts ... who knows Brogdon out for another ball handler.
In my car alot and listen to sorts talk ... agree or not I just listen.

I have yet to hear one Celtic's caller speak to the Mazzulla's offense.
It is called 'randomness' ... ball handler or anyone gets the ball over half court.
Then based on what they see they know what plays to execute ... flow chart.

Smart got roasted for the white board and chair ... but he was going over
the defense they were up against and the possible plays to execute based on that.
Many of those options the Heat was prepared for ... thus those last second 3 pt heaves from Smart/???

So sure a PG can always help ... but the ball and plays run through Tatum ... and Smart when he was here.
But we all the rest of the main story ... as long as Smart was here ... the Jay's and the next level maybe would not come.

As for the randomness ... good for regular season ... tops in the league points ... but for playoffs that offense sucked.

Yes the offense runs thru Tatum BUT he should never be bringing the ball up. He's not that good of a ballhandler. When he gets pressured b4 crossing halfcourt he slows way down trying to find someone to.pass to. He gets stripped sometimes. Its also wasting his energy. The Bulls dynasty became great when Phil stopped allowing MJ to bring the ball up- and MJ is obviously 1,000x the ball handler Tatum is. Also by the time Tatum crosses half court half thr freaking shot clock is gone. I played point guard it drives me nuts when I see this ****.
Let a pg bring the ball up and then get tge ball to Tatum to initiate the offense- just like they did with MJ. There'd be way more time on the clock and Jason would have more energy. I feel like his lack of energy was a problem late in some games.

That is what I said ... ball handlers ...
that's what they are called on the Celtic's ... Smart ... Brogdon ... White ... Pritchard.
We need another ... but at a lower cost and younger.

Agree on Tatum .... play off the ball and wait for it to cross.

I don't understand how Chris forseberg doesn't think that this trade makes them better.. celts have had no post scoring since big AL was here during the doc river's era.. I will miss smart and all he brung as a leader, but these are thr types of moves to be made in order to get to a championship. Porzingis definitely makes them better.. a consistent viable 3rd scoring option.. a big post presence down low.. he'll put pressure on bam adebayo in a 7 game series.. or giannis..

Another thing too.. I believe with Porzingis tatums minutes can be reduced to I'd say 37 to 38 minutes a game. Pop did a great job of managing Duncan and it prolonged his career.

He and brown log alot of minutes. The season is long and a grind. Go figure the Jay's have been in the playoffs each season in thier entire careers.

Definitely with you on taking the ball handling duties away from the Jay's and designate a true ball handling pg.

Agree on Tatum .... play off the ball and wait for it to cross.

We need a Dennis Johnson on this team.

As for Tatum, I believe he has worked on his handle quite a bit. The only problem is that he talks about how good it is (can't remember the interview, but he was bragging) and seems to want to show it off. So on some possessions he's out there playing globetrotters instead of running the offense.

I actually wished Chris Paul would take a pay cut to play for a legit contender in the Celtics at this stage of his career, but, oh well.

Ah Dennis Johnson ... so many media knocks against him ...
he proved all the doubters wrong ... and we got to see it all ... may he rest in peace.

Chris Paul is 38 and will be 39 before next year's finals. Great player, amazing talent but I am not sure how much is left except a name. He is a 2nd team talent at this point.

Tatum is a good ballhandler for a guy his size. When hes guarded one on one by a similar-sized forward, advantage Tatum.
But he by no stretch can handle like even a mediocre point guard. He should not be bringing the ball up.
He also has a ton of turnovers getting stripped when he tries to dribble in heavy traffic with smaller, quicker guards lurking nearby. His court awareness still needs work. I love it when he drives but hes got to be more aware of nearby guards waiting to steal it. Bird had a better handle than Tatum. Rarely ever saw anyone steal it from him. And he drove a lot. Know your strengths, minimize your weaknesses. He mostly does a good job at that except for the above-mentioned.

Bird said he was the best player he ever played with. Whether one understands the nuances of a true point guard or not, what Larry said speaks volumes. Gone way too soon. RIP DJ.

Good ... he can still be gone.
Decent offer ... too much IMO but team politics ... should satisfy the Jay's desire that he stays.

He gives all he has ... but too slow ... to short ... no dribble ... weak rebounder and poor paint play.
to expensive for those weak skills ... decent 3-pt shot ... but again ... another team will pay him more ...
too much for an agitator ... good ... I am still hopeful ... he offered nothing in the playoffs ... start there.

I hope the new rumor that the Clippers are still interested in Malcolm Brodgon see true. I would like to see him traded before the season starts.

I am concerned about who will replace the "bully" defense, leadership, and hustle that Smart provided.

This idea seems to provide some of the need if the price is right considering he is 35, I think.

Love smart can't say enough about him..especially what he meant to the Boston community.. I'd like us to go after an agitator, someone to frustrate teams best players.. outside grant hill is pat Beverly.. we have to many nice guys on this team

I think it a bit funny how that was always a hockey thing ...
a few on the roster ... now an NBA thing ... sports has indeed changed.

Why would you like to see Brogdon traded? What is wrong with him (aside from fragility)?
