It'll be interesting to see what Middleton gets in the open market.Along with Jokic,as @RW mentioned, Kris Middleton and Draymond Green are other current nba all- stars drafted in 2nd.
So yes, it happens sometimes
Agree 100%.. they are 7 year vet's in thier prime years.. this is where the should be taking the next step in thier NBA careers.Tend to agree. Tatum and Jaylen can create their own shot but need a player(s) that can get them the ball in spots in which their 1:1 game has broken down. If they can do that that'll cut down on the turnovers. Ball handling as well and stop forcing plays.
I like Brown's game and would lend himself to that offensive philosophy.

For all NBA players I can't remember a time where players of thier calibers turned the ball over in record numbers.
We are stuck with brogdan excellent player but injury prone.. if he can get healthy by camp then he can assume a starting role.
Yeah.. that's the only knock on brogdon was his injury history.. Steven's has done an admirable job as GM.. I still want him to pursue Bruce brown.. he'd be perfect for this team. The teams stated brogdon will be expected to be ready for TC in October. Hopefully will a starting role presumably he will be ok. The more I think about it.. the more I like the Porzingis pick up.. his game in the paint and he and Williams presence down low will help JT and JB tremendously.Yea Brog w/ his injury is here for next year and hopefully he can contribute towards a title...unless he heals well and is dumped at the trade deadline. He'll be an expiring contract in 24-25 but that doesn't help the team now.
I love the Porz trade more by the minute.Yeah.. that's the only knock on brogdon was his injury history.. Steven's has done an admirable job as GM.. Yes, we knew that in order to get what the team was missing we'd have to part ways with someone.. yes I'm all in on Gabe Vincent.. really like his game. Is he a free agent? I'm sure Brown will be looking for a nice contract, but he's worth it I just love what he brings to a team.I love the Porz trade more by the minute.
If they can land a true unselfish PG now we are cooking with gas. Quite frankly i'd prefer Gabe Vincent or Tre Jones
If Brown comes to the team then Grant Williams won't. I'm kinda done with him too.
Gibson is a UFA.Yes, we knew that in order to get what the team was missing we'd have to part ways with someone.. yes I'm all in on Gabe Vincent.. really like his game. Is he a free agent? I'm sure Brown will be looking for a nice contract, but he's worth it I just love what he brings to a team.
I see.. we still need another guy.. I believe Pritchard will get his wish granted.. surprised he hasn't been traded yet..Gibson is a UFA.
Jones is an RFA. I don't know how he and D-White got along in SA but let's assume they did.
Not sure what Brown's market is. i'm sure it'll be in the $10-15m AAV range.
Love Pritch but hes very average defensively vs the better smaller guards in the league.I see.. we still need another guy.. I believe Pritchard will get his wish granted.. surprised he hasn't been traded yet..
They actually finished top 5 in offense and defense last season.. they just were committed as you said.. to offense the motive was scoring and shooting 3s.. last season..Love Pritch but hes very average defensively vs the better smaller guards in the league.
Gibson and Jones can hold their own and then some.
I'd certainly put BB Jr. in that close-to-elite on the ball defender category.
Celts D took a step back last year. They need to re-commit.
Their issue last year was an undisciplined game, lacked sustained focus and were erratic facing adversity. The had a 1st year coach who was inexperienced in player psyche management. You had players who did way too much free-lancing because they thought they could turn it on/off and it burned them in the ECF.They actually finished top 5 in offense and defense last season.. they just were committed as you said.. to offense the motive was scoring and shooting 3s.. last season..
Mazz was part of the problem but I do think he has upside. Lets see how he does with a vet asst coaching staff consulting him.I'm glad Muzzulla got some experience last season and went deep into the playoffs.. gotta give him credit for a 1st year coach. Miami actually got lucky playing us in the playoffs we were easy to defend. They got a reality check against Denver.
Yes ... great post. The new CBA makes first rounders less valuable, IMHO, because of the rigid contract requirements. Second rounders have complete contract flexibility, with the amount they get paid and how they show up on the roster. So they are much easier to deal with in regards to the new, more rigid and punitive, salary cap.
Keep in mind that, like the NFL draft, fewer than half of NBA first rounders become starters, and only 3-5 per year become players who score 15ppg and have even minimal playoff success. As they say, "it's a crapshoot."
Smart was at his best when he was setting the physical and defensive tone during the first 3 quarters of the game. He was at his worst when his "End of Game" mentality far exceeded his abilities. I won't miss the frustration of having him on the floor when the game is on the line. I don't mind having Porzingis as a third scoring option when the game is on the line though.I was hoping Smart would be gone as soon as our season ended.
There are many positives to Marcus Smart the player ... but as long as he was here ...
nobody else could lead the team ... a player acting more important than the coach ... well good luck Marcus.
Seriously...Yes ... great post.
Imagine if Belichick drafted Markelle Fultz .

Always that big "IF". Especially with players like Rob, Brogdon, and now Kristaps counted on to play crucial roles for the team next year. Down here in New Orleans, the Pelican fans are frustrated as hell with Zion and Ingram. We are lucky that the Jays stay relatively healthy (Heat game 7 notwithstanding)Agreed IF Porzingis can stay healthy. He looks bigger and had a good year, so maybe. Huge potential to disappoint, that is why Porzingis was on the Clearance rack. Other GMs did not want to take the risk. Big balls by Stevens.
Not sure "Clearance Rack" is accurate. He was on the verge of opting out. Wiz had no choice but to trade him for a discount. They had zero leverage and Brad took advantage.Agreed IF Porzingis can stay healthy. He looks bigger and had a good year, so maybe.
