Usually they're running around with their shirt off or something like a drunken idiot, not trying to crop dust an entire sideline with an unknown substance
Maybe he wanted to protect his sideline/teammates, they are alpha males that take action... Some whack job is on the field and came right at their sideline where all of their players, coaches, etc are
Dude deserved to get completely laid out. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Should be etched in stone somewhere as a monument
No, he didn't necessarily deserve to get laid out IMO. He should have expected it and I don't think it's a terribly unreasonable outcome ... I certainly wouldn't expect anything less if I did that myself, but there's a big gulf between expecting something and deserving something.
The only thing he deserved was to be escorted off the field by stadium security, charged with a crime, fined, and banned from attending that stadium (and any NFL game) ever again.
Re-reading my post, maybe there's a bit of difference between deserving something and something being right. Does a pitch invader automatically deserve to be physically assaulted? I would say 'no', but I can understand how doing something like that could fairly deserve being apprehended in a not-very-nice manner. Is a player who is participating in the game, physically throwing the invader to the ground in every cirumstance, the correct/right way to handle these situations? I would say it's far from ideal.
