O/T: Protester knocked down by Rams player files assault complaint

Honestly, Wagner and McKinley has the right to claim self-defense. For the very reason that Wagner mentioned. They have no idea what's in that pink smoke or if the "protester" has something else on them.

I hope the NFL puts a Lifetime Ban on the two knuckleheads and their immediate families to keep them out of NFL Stadiums. This would also mean they couldn't attend things like Concerts, Soccer games or other events at the Stadiums.

I'm sure he will settle out of court for a couple soy milkshakes and a case of tofu Hot Pockets.

Tired of dumbasses. ****ing moron. He needs to go to jail and get some alone time with someone named little John. I really hope the cop was laughing at him the whole time he was writing down his complaint.

Wagner should not have hit a woman.

Expecting too.

This is from the article I linked:

"The fan's name and age has not been released because he is a juvenile. The boy's mother told the Associated Press that he's 10 years old, which was later refuted by police who said that he's older than 10. Apparently she had several kids with her at the game and was confused about which one had run onto the field."

If the woman was wrong about which kid it was, how do we know it was even her kid? Anyways.. It doesn't matter all that much in the scheme of things.

Expecting the participants in the game to identify the age of the idiot who disrupted it is an unreasonable expectation, unless it’s a little kid or a puppy. Anyone else should expect to get flattened.

The righteous vindictiveness against people who run onto a field during a sports game is so bizarre. You want someone to jailed for this type of thing? This stuff is so common in Europe/other parts of the world, especially in soccer matches, and you rarely see stadium personnel or players physically assault the person who's entered the field in the process of escorting them away.

Being an immature, stupid buffoon doesn't mean you should be locked in jail. It does mean that you should be banned from attending future events, though, if you do this type of thing. It's disruptive and disrespectful to the teams/players.

As a final thought, I always find it amusing when players who tackle field invaders say "it's about our safety, we don't know what they have" ... so why did you run towards them and physically contact them? Why would you get closer to this person if you feared they might want to harm you? Doesn't totally make sense. IMO, let security/law enforcement do their job and apprehend these guys. Players physically intervening isn't a great look.

Usually they're running around with their shirt off or something like a drunken idiot, not trying to crop dust an entire sideline with an unknown substance

Maybe he wanted to protect his sideline/teammates, they are alpha males that take action... Some whack job is on the field and came right at their sideline where all of their players, coaches, etc are

Dude deserved to get completely laid out. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Should be etched in stone somewhere as a monument

You usually have good takes but this is so far out there that it's what is bizarre. It doesn't matter what is "common" in Europe or other parts of the world.

The fact is that it IS against the law here. I'm going to guess you've never read your ticket because it explicitly says it's against the law.

Yes. Actually, being an immature stupid buffoon does mean you should be locked in jail. It's why the law is there.

If getting closer to the person means preventing them from hurting others, yes. Absolutely. And there are many people who feel this way.

What's not a great look is defending such BS.

I didn't defend the action, though. Read my post again, carefully. Nowhere will you find a defense.

Breaking the law doesn't mean one automatically belongs in jail. That's not how the law functions. If you believe that any violation of a written law means one should be jailed, I'd suggest you rethink that perspective, because god forbid you ever don't come to a complete halt at a Stop Sign.

The players cannot know if the field invader is dangerous. That's not their job, they're not trained to identify threats, and so there's no way they can claim they're preventing others from being hurt with any certainty. Let stadium security and law enforcement do their jobs.

And no, being immature, stupid, a buffoon, or any number of things, does not mean you should be locked in jail. That's a ridiculously dangerous position to assume and I completely disagree. People who are malicious and dangerous to others should be prevented from interacting with society at large ... not people who run on the field during a sports game (unless that person was demonstrated to be on the field with the intent of harming others, which is almost never the case in these situations).

Again, not a defense. Just a perspective.
