NY Mets/Jete Fans upset over Brady’s “Tom Terrific” trademark application lol

Not a huge fan of "Tom Terrific" either for #12 or anyone else.. conjurs up a very weird, but remembered image. Captain Kangaroo and his fans are quite upset at the bastardization of their offspring..

Look it's pretty simple. A term of endearment that has been used most-often for an athlete shouldn't be require fan action to stop another athlete who has pretty much never been addressed with said term of endearment from going into his Scrooge McDuck vault of gold and pulling out 12 lawyers to trademark it.

Let's assume 'Big Papi' isn't trademarked. I don't know if it is because even trying to google stuff about baseball puts me to sleep. In 30 years some gorgeous QB for some rival team decides to trademark it because someone somewhere called him Papi once you know, you ****ing know all the Sox fans still alive would be apoplectic and with good cause. It would probably be the only time in the history of everything that I was on the side of Red Sox fans.

Saying 'welp they should have hired a lawyer' is man...it's just such a lame defense.

Ahh. I'm just going to say that I love you too man. If Brady sues Seaver for using "Tom Terrific" one day then I'll ***** about it along with you. Other than that I don't really care. Seems like a bunch of rich dude problems to me.

I do think it's funny that a bunch of "fans" are shytting all over themselves because it though.

I'm really not trying to be a contrarian but personally I'm not a fan of this - it's a bad look. Tom's 'brand' wasn't going to be harmed by him being called Tom Terrific but it is hardly a name I've heard applied to him with any regularity and tbh he should have just left it alone.

Brady understands that it looks like a douche move, that’s why he spoke out. I accept his reasoning and believe his explanation. I don’t think he wants to be known as Tom Terrific.

When I was a child I had Kangaroo and Crunch, now it's Stone and Insano. The more things change the more they stay the same (tho I have no clue if Insano stays crunchy in milk

Tom Seaver was recently diagnosed with dementia. I think that may have heightened the sensitivity a tad surrounding the situation. Nicknames are generally meaningless in my opinion, there are more important things to remember players by.

I usually just refer to him as Tom.
