I think they have the talent to do it if for some reason they really wanted too, but I don't see it happening.

The offenses are effectively the same (although a bit older) with moss being swapped out for lloyd and the 2 TEs added, which you could argue is better than in 07.

But I don't see it happening because we seem to be going back to a more balanced offensive approach, instead of spread all the time like in 07. It could be a more effective offense, but probably not as flashy. Plus in 07 we did run up the score quite a bit, which I see no reason for this year. If we are up a lot we will probably grind it out, and maybe even Mallett/Hoyer can get in there to stir up some trade possibilities.

The more Brady throws the ball, the more his arm wears down, and the more he will get hit.


If anything, Pats should be running the ball more and more as the years go on and save Brady for when they really need him.

I think we will be able to get many more YPC than 2011 due the the more diverse defense, and the running game I think will be significantly better. Shane Vereen, Stevan Ridley, Brandon Bolden, Danny Woodhead. Short dump offs to RB's are not as hard on the arm, I expect 50 of those spread between the RB's at least, most going to Vereen and Woodhead. I think that Mallet/Hoyer could be put in in the 4th quarter for talent evaluation, because why play Brady when you are up by 20 points? I could see Brady throwing for 4800-5200 yards, Mallet 800-1200 yards, and Hoyer 400-600 yards.

the wild card no one is considering is the D.

If the pieces BB added this off-season get us a top 10 defense; then look-out they could have a significant shot at the points record; it is the yardage record that i think will then be unlikely.

For sure i would hope we run a lot more than we did last year for balance (multi-dimensional threat) and protecting brady and also just developing players (rbs). But even if Pats are running more and moving slower down field; if your D is giving you 40-55 yds to EZ instead of 80; you are going to walk away with points.

Even more of a factor is whether the defense is able to get off the field (and thus let the offense back on ...)

We've seen Brady do More with Less & More with More so anything is possible with him under snap. He threw for over 5,000 yds last year and why not be around that number again this year with most pts per game. It's possible, but I doubt it.

The 2010 Pats had 518 points, the 2011 Pats had 513 points. These are your most prolific Pats scoring teams outside of 2007.

At the halfway point in 2007, the Pats had 331 points (and note this does not include the 56 in Buffalo). In the second half, they coasted () with *only* 258 points. Even their "bad" half of that year would have prorated to a 516 point season.

The 2010 Pats put up the best 8-game finish at 299 points, followed closely by the 2011 Pats at 291. Both finishes were superb, but note the 2011 finish would not prorate at > 589. It would take a whole season of incredible scoring like the 2nd half of 2010 to have a shot.

Let's see 2007's first half and 2010's 2nd half and blow the roof off the record at 630 points.

With a 21 point lead heading into the 4th quarter I would like to see Hoyer and Mallet in and let them do what they can do. Numbers may be a bit high, but I think that putting them in and letting them pass would be great for development and experience. Mallet will get more play in garbage time because he will be on the roster longer. Ideally I would like for Brady to not have to play at all in the 4th quarter. This hasn't been the Pat's style in the past but Brady getting older I would like to see him pulled late in the game when the outcome is already decided to avoid injury.
