So, what is it with these old gezzers...MJ says the only person who could guard him is Kobe and he says that he could take LeBon one on one. Then Kareem says that Oscar Robertson was better than LeBron AND MJ. MJ also says that Kobe stole his moves.

First and foremost, it is silly to try and compare players in different eras. Why cant these old guys just let go of the past and enjoy these young guys. I could never imagine Larry Bird defending his play against the kids of today. First, there will never be a better pure shooter than Larry Bird (Reggie Miller says hello), but you dont see these guys trying to defend their legacy.

Why does MJ feel the need to keep the conversation alive...just enjoy the young talent of today and let others rank them where they may.

Because Jordan is a narcissist and an attention whore. Not to mention a degenerate gambler and a real POS as a whole. His hall of fame speech and the shots he took at his high school coach spelled that out. He should be worried about how he, as a GM, is going to get his team over .500 and playing at least somewhat competitive basketball and not whether he could take LeBron one on one two plus decades ago. I hope he lives to see the day when someone (even if it's not LeBron) eclipses his ring count just to see how miserable he'll be.

Maybe MJ says those things to divert attention away from the fact that he's been an abject failure as a basketball executive. The older he gets, the better he used to be....
