Content Post N'Keal Harry (lack of) Progress Report

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

It hasn't been two full years yet and we both know how accurate Cam has been lately. I'm not saying he's lit the world on fire, but he does deserve a little time.

he had Tom Brady the GOAT and brady knew Harriet had no future

meh Meyers had no future with Brady too and he is lighting it up now and that with the worst passing QB since the game was invented in Cam

Meyers showed some flashes last year. The guy looks like hard worker off the field and he finds ways to get open.
and though Brady throw him under the bus and not giving him any chance when he was out (making it WR are bad can't get open blablabla)
so Brady not throwing to Harry or Meyers says more about Brady (the old one) than about the ability of the Receivers to perform

not saying Harry showed much and will be a top tier WR with a different QB (but he would most probably have far better stats if he would be playing with Wilson or other more accurate passers that are willing to give him the chance for contested catches)

Yeah right. A new QB wouldn’t make harry any better. The guy has trouble shaking corners. You will see that and i don’t see him getting any better with another team. I hope he proves me wrong but i just don’t see it .

Say what? Meyers had 26 receptions with Brady throwing him the ball in spite of only being the starter for one game. Harry hasn’t produced with either Brady or Cam, but at least he saw the end zone with Brady. Harry couldn’t hack it with the GOAT, he can’t hack it with Cam, and he couldn’t hack it with Hoyer. I’ll bet it will be more of the same with Stidham. How many excuses does this kid need from this message board? He’s just not an NFL-caliber receiver. Hell, Cam tried to give a jump ball to him yesterday (something he can supposedly do well) and Harry barely left the ground to get it. He’s almost completely useless.

for me he looks wrong placed in the NFL, based on his skill set (only my opinion) he should not be a WR but rather a TE, he can block and he for sure can run the seam route, with his physics he should be able to catch all contested catches thrown to him against LB/S (unless its Cam whos throwing )

perhaps he isn't smart enough for the Patriots TE position, but from body type he should be a quite good TE, perhaps on another team

The throw for him was well Cam-ish, so 20:80 chance you get a catchable ball, the one from Cam was not good, you have still to place the ball where your Reciever can get there, Cam is not accurate even for those throws...

see my post above, I see Harry more as a TE than WR in the NFL

The ball hit his finger tips. If he could have gotten more than 2” off the ground, he could have made a play. He either didn’t have the athleticism to jump higher than that, or he didn’t make much of an effort. Take your pick. I do agree that he should be moved to H-Back.

He also had little regards for Meyers and Meyers has taken a big step forward this year. Lets hope for the same for Harry next year

350 yards in limited action last year for Meyers, I actually take as a very good sign that he had 350 yards with Brady despite barely even playing. Now he more than doubles that in year 2, and his pace per game is actually that of a 1100 yard receiver. So I don't think Meyers had anything negative last year, it was simply a lack of snaps and even with limited action he still did way more than Nkeal Harry has done in 2 years.

So what is it, 1 more year on the rookie deal? I.e., he's still cheap to keep? I know he's first round and I remember it being a high pick for us... but not giant money new guy high

Unless there's fiscal pressure, we can give him a pass on Cam, probably something we'd do less of, if giving him a pass FROM Cam were more likely

where’s your proof he had little regards for meyers? Meyers last year was an undrafted free agent who was trying to make the team.

harry was a first round pick selected over future hall of famers

So Brady won all those Superbowls with crap rosters? Not sure what your point is. Bill didn't draft guys like Gronkowski or Edelman or trade for guys like Welker or Moss?

You said Bill doesn't know how to build a team. He's had alot of misses the last few years which is why we are here.

But to say over 20 years that he hasn't built a team and it was all Brady willing them to win despite bills poor rosters is just ludicrous. If that's the case than Brady should've won last year with that roster because he's overcome Bills poor rosters for 20 years.
So your argument is something like if Brady couldn't will the team to a Super Bowl title every single season then Belichick must be doing something right.

Since I can't un-convolute your argument, I'll just reiterate that NE never would have won a Super Bowl without Brady and Belichick would not have turned to Brady had Bledsoe not gotten pulverized by Mo Lewis. Belichick had just signed Bledsoe to a massive contract so he clearly had not been considering a QB change. Lewis, and then Brady of course, forced his hand.

Gross oversimplification. BB was a good enough manager to employ and listen to Rehbein, who scouted Brady. Brady was not very good at first, but BB could see his potential and kept 4 QBs that first year--almost unheard of, but it was because he recognized something about Brady he really loved. In year 2 BB knew Brady was better than Bledsoe, but Bledsoe had just signed a 10 year mega-contract so he couldn't start Brady, and they needed to fill seats in a new stadium. BB had the sack to stick with Brady when Bledsoe came back from that injury, even though he was cleared to play.
You're not making sense. Belichick signed Bledsoe to the "mega-contract," so clearly Belichick had not been entertaining the notion of a QB change, and the stadium didn't open until after the first Super Bowl title so clearly there was no going back Bledsoe.

Belichick got incredibly lucky with Brady. A 6th round pick turns out to be the greatest player in the history of the sport. That's Dumb Luck, period.

It's not dumb luck. He has a specific scouting method looking for guys who take care of the ball, are leaders, etc. He kept 4 QBs on the roster which was unheard of. Beyond QBs he's found undrafted players be pro bowlers at CB , guard, receiver, etc. It's not luck when he keeps finding gems out of garbage.

The ball was suppose to be to the sideline and Cam throws it high and inside. Try to run towards the sidelines, stop, and then jump back and out to the inside and see how high off the ground you get.

Ridiculous take.

Wow. I agree with @DropKickFlutie. What happened?
