So they can see Butler with a tiny bit of jersey from 15-20 yards away but none of them saw this?

FYI:

That happened on 3rd and 4 from the NYJ 21. Pats had to settle for a FG. If the refs would have rightly called it, it would have been 1st and goal from the NYJ 10

Posted in the game thread when it happened. Would have given the Pats a 1st down instead of punting. Right in front of a zebra too.

Actually I just added it to my post but Pats kicked a FG on that one. They were at the NYJ 21, refs call it it's a 1st down and the Pats are at the NYJ 10

That's the one! Knew it lead to a kick still a potentially game changing "error".

Uncalled throat slash taunting penatly
Marshall blatant pushoff on his TD
Ticky tack call on Butler on 3rd down with 1:25 left in the 4th that allowed the jests to run more clock

If you're gonna call Butler's, you gotta call those other 2 penalties.

I've seen people on here saying it was a great officiated game because there wasn't many penalties. Newsflash, there doesn't have to be a lot of penalties for penalties to possibly change the outcome.

I saw that during the game and was very surprised there was no flag.

Imagine how many draft picks the Patriots would lose if one of them acted like that.

They seriously ban that? Who cares about a sack dance

I get the argument about too much not being allowed.
I don't get the argument over a throat slashing gesture or similar categorical gestures. There has to be a limit and, IMHO, it seems perfectly fitting to place those limits on gestures of that nature.

Side note: I didn't watch the video and I'm assuming the un-allowed gesture is there based on other posters' descriptions.

Seems like kind of a weak penalty tbh, has it been consistently called?

I remember watching it live too, I could not care less if a guy celebrates after doing something. If a team doesnt want the opponent to celebrate then dont give them anything to celebrate.

Not weak at all. When a player does it they are fined by the league and yes it has been consistently called. But it's rare that a player does it nowadays. I recall Dez Bryant doing it after a TD last year, was flagged and fined.

It's banned in every level on football.

If a player wants to celebrate that's fine but when he does one that is banned by the league then the refs need to throw the flag.

If a Pats player did a throat slash I wouldn't **** all over the refs for flagging him. I would call the player an idiot because there are numerous other ways to celebrate a play instead.

Two separate issues: (1) celebration and (2)celebration using gestures that are not allowed and may include acts that convey something poor.

#2 has nothing to do with being stopped by the other team. What is has to do with is setting boundaries for what will be displayed to stadium goers and TV watchers. While you may feel throat slashing gestures and/or other similar category gestures are ok -- that's your own personal call -- it has nothing to do with the other team stopping them from doing it. It has to do with the completely common concept of employer established boundaries of acceptable behavior.

That's not the typical throat slashing gesture. Using the offhand arm to simulate lifting the chin to give maximum exposure to the throat area is taking it a step further.
