It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Problem is this plan involves investing multiple years in a guy who gets injured frequently. You turn the team into a ticking time bomb. The 49’ers are a win now team and they traded a bunch of picks to get away from unreliable Jimmy and then he got a godsend with Lance going down, and just when it looked like he had a shot at redeeming himself… he validated everything.I really don't see a better idea unless something incredibly and unexpectedly stupid happens with a better QB not only demanding a trade but demanding one here of all places. Which, let's be real.
And yes, they have to completely blowout the offensive coaching staff. As much as I resent the nepotism with Steve on defense and I think it's an issue it's not a debilitating issue. I personally would promote Mayo to officially DC and get him to stay. But I doubt it'll happen which sucks. But whatever, the point is we need an entire new staff on offense. Do that and there's daylight.
Well if Bill had just signed Garoppolo to a modest deal then another GM can say "they don't need Mac anymore" as opposed to necessarily saying "they gave up on him". Maybe they liked Mac but they like Jimmy more.Would Mac really fetch that much in a trade? His contract helps. But won’t other GMs look at this as BB giving up on a young QB after just 2 seasons and wondering why?
Well the thing about a deal for Garoppolo is that it's not really supposed to be a "mega deal" for a superstar QB - the hope is that it's a more modest deal for a few years for a guy who can start and play well for you and provide veteran leadership on offense while you develop another guy. You know he might miss some games but you're developing a kid for the future anyway so you're probably alright with him having some spot starts.Problem is this plan involves investing multiple years in a guy who gets injured frequently. I’m not interested in watching a team that’s a house of cards
Yeah I am 90% sure Buffalo will play NE hard regardless of their situation.
Patriots also struggling without Thuney as wellIs this the first NFL game he’s missed?
yeah..since 2006...gee whiz golly goobers..I wonder what started all this crapola in motion? What a terrible game tonight.
NFL has been bad managing the schedule for many...many years.
OK, the Jets/Fish/Chargers all lost.
Wish the Chiefs didn’t crap the bed, but I will take it.
Next week’s key games before our MNFer in Glendale:
Jets @ Bills
Browns @ Bengals
Dolphins @ Chargers
There was a long discussion with me, Ian and a few others about this specific plan in the Bills post-game thread a couple days ago. Basically my plan is the same - sign Garoppolo for a few years, trade Mac for a 2nd + 3rd (he'll fetch that, I'm pretty sure), use those picks to invest in the OL, and develop Zappe while Garoppolo starts for the rest of Zappe's contract. If you don't feel like Zappe is the guy by the end of 2024 then extend Garoppolo a few more years and draft another QB before Zappe's deal runs out at the end of 2025. Garoppolo will get hurt, yes, but Zappe can manage games in his absence. Have to imagine Garoppolo's contract value is hit a bit by this injury.
And yeah all of the above is predicated on the assumption the coaching gets fixed.
If NE loses to Las Vegas, they don’t deserve the playoffs. I’m not saying NE will win, just that a team that loses to the Raiders should be out of the postseason.Very good day overall for us. Unfortunately the raiders game is looking tougher each week and the bengals game looks VERY hard. But we’re still alive
