NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION NFL Week 13 Other Games

Still not used to 17 regular-season games and one playoff bye in each conference. Should've never been changed.
That + the jersey number by position rule change. Undo all of it.

Damn Jimmy G out for the year with a broken foot...

Sources said Jimmy was overheard saying "Okay, talk to you later Bill" before going into the meeting with his personal doctor to decide on treatment. (not really, I'm joking about the Bill comment... before anyone takes me seriously)

Herbert is excellent.

I don't know why we're bagging on guys so quickly. The guy is clearly laboring behind that OL. But he is pretty tough and has shown he can do some pretty special things out there. Not everyone is stellar each and every year. He's not Mahomes but he can grow into a Josh Allen.
He’s a pretty loser. Makes that ‘special play’ but doesn’t win. Burrows has similar OL problems and approx the same experience. Big difference.

I liked Jimmy. Not being able to stay healthy is a major issue. Derailing too many seasons.

Honestly? I'd do it. I really would. Sign Jimmy, trade Mac for a third round pick to don't care where, sit and develop Zappe. AS LONG AS PATRICIA AND JUDGE ARE GONE AND WE GET REAL OFFENSIVE COACHING. NO DEBATE. If that doesn't happen I literally couldn't care less about who is the QB. But assuming Kraft is sober he'll say "get the house in order or I will" and so that'll happen. And THAT is a team I can feel good about.

Need to fix the OL too.

There was a long discussion with me, Ian and a few others about this specific plan in the Bills post-game thread a couple days ago. Basically my plan is the same - sign Garoppolo for a few years, trade Mac for a 2nd + 3rd (he'll fetch that, I'm pretty sure), use those picks to invest in the OL, and develop Zappe while Garoppolo starts for the rest of Zappe's contract. If you don't feel like Zappe is the guy by the end of 2024 then extend Garoppolo a few more years and draft another QB before Zappe's deal runs out at the end of 2025. Garoppolo will get hurt, yes, but Zappe can manage games in his absence. Have to imagine Garoppolo's contract value is hit a bit by this injury.

And yeah all of the above is predicated on the assumption the coaching gets fixed.

I really don't see a better idea unless something incredibly and unexpectedly stupid happens with a better QB not only demanding a trade but demanding one here of all places. Which, let's be real.

And yes, they have to completely blowout the offensive coaching staff. As much as I resent the nepotism with Steve on defense and I think it's an issue it's not a debilitating issue. I personally would promote Mayo to officially DC and get him to stay. But I doubt it'll happen which sucks. But whatever, the point is we need an entire new staff on offense. Do that and there's daylight.

Would Mac really fetch that much in a trade? His contract helps. But won’t other GMs look at this as BB giving up on a young QB after just 2 seasons and wondering why?

Or his TE could have held onto the ball instead of fighting for a few extra feet

Cincinatti is a great team. Let's see how Timmy does against them in a few weeks.
Who's talking about Brady? Anyway Mahomes is on your quest to become the GOAT. What does a 45 year old quarterback have to do with that?

So basically we need to go 4-1, and have the Jets go 3-2

Then we sneak in the playoffs and get smoked again on primetime/win the Super Bowl.
Basically, Pats have to go 4-1 if the Jets go 3-2 (and the Chargers go 4-1 or worse). If the Jets go 2-3 then the Pats can go 3-2, unless the Chargers go 4-1. Pats simply need to keep pace with the Chargers and do 1 better than the Jets. The Chargers have the easiest remaining schedule; the Jets and Pats are similar with the Pats probably a little tougher. All of NYJ's 3 harder games are away.

The issue with signing Jimmy is he’s unreliable. It’s a waste to build around him. Jimmy has had starting duties in 7 seasons. He’s failed to complete 4 of them. And one of his 3 successes was when he only needed to finish 5 seasons to finish off the season after he was traded. He couldn’t even get past 2 games when we needed him for 4.

It’s a waste of time imo. You sign him as a back up maybe to come in just case.

Reliability matters.
