memo from Ryan Grigson:

"It is well known around the league that the Patriots are attempting to employ actual genetic CLONES of some of their players. We implore you to stand up for the shield and halt these sorcerers before it's too late."

If you rewatch games, half of Jones' sacks are a team effort usually caused by our LBs and DTs forcing the QB into Jones. He has also had a couple "cleanup" sacks where anyone could have gotten it.

Jones has improved this year but our entire front 7 has too.

Thank u!!! That's my point. Listen collins' s a freak of nature but how many times has bill tried to find a pass rusher?
Collins is on pace for 9 sacks this year. He is a rare specimen . Also remember we have new young penetrating tackles and they have moved to a more aggressive strategy this season it seems.

McCourty would be a welcome addition here. The only questions that remain are who/what are we sending the Tits in return and how the hell is he fitting under the cap?

Not for nothing, but Collins is NOT a FA next year. It would be NICE to get him extended to a team friendly deal, but not a necessity. In fact both Hightower and Jones could be kept under patriot control for another year by picking up their 5th year option.

I would agree that the BEST option would be to extend them all, but, like I said, the fact is all three will be Patriots next season, extended or not

They really should keep all three of Jones, Hightower, and Collins. They are all young studs. That's the core of a great defense.

I think BB is more enamored with LBs than DE that want huge money. Last week someone asked if he had the best LB core in his career, and he said something to the effect of Banks and LT are right up there. Not they were better, but up there. Tells you how he regards both of those guys. So, he'll lock those guys up first.

So glad we went against the norm and traded up in the first round twice in 2012 for Hightower and Jones. Both are proven to be stars. See, once in a while it's good to trade up

If BB is mentioning JC/DT in the same breath of LT/EB that should tell you all you need to know.

@JasonLaCanfora: Names I've heard the most on during deadline day: Staley (among other 49ers) , J. Cook, Kruger, Mingo, Streater, M. Cooper, Willie Young,

Not for nothing, but Collins is NOT a FA next year.
None of them are. No reason to not carry all three through next year. We may not have cap space right now but we have our whole roster signed through next year. This isn't a one year team.

Might we see more press and man coverage if jason comes here?

And what happend if Vollmer goes down? Think about that one, Im sure a CB would be nice, but LT is close to a must have.
Cannon would move to LT and Fleming would play RT. Less than ideal but you can't have all pro players at every level.

We have more depth on the OL than we do at CB.

Canon is not garbage. He certainly is not being paid like it.
