NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

People here said they would offer a 5th not a 3rd, that’s insanity.
That's not because of ability.
It's because he's on an expiring contract, so you are paying for a pure rental, or committing a nice contract to resign him.
If the Jets have no intent to resign him, they would be smart to take what they can get.
Maybe that's a 3rd, maybe that's a 5th.
We don't know his market.

Diggs is the definition of " shiny wide receiver."
The Diggs coming was a giant question mark who was coming in off a torn ACL and questions about his attitude. This wasn't the 2022 or 2023 version.

Not when the Pats signed him.
Diggs deal brought to us courtesy of the last of the 3 D's, the only one that applies to a FA. Our old friend Devastation

Pats 4th round pick will be closer to a 5th than a 3rd.
Ok so we might have to give up a 4th for Breece Hall. But it's probably worth it considering he's a proven guy and that's cheaper than the early 2nd we spent on Henderson.

True. There were a lot of doubts on the Diggs signing because he came off a major injury.

Thankfully he returned to form and he has become the WR1 that we've been lacking for years now.

I feel like Diggs veteran leadership is also felt in the locker room and helps the other young WRs.

Yeah we’re definitely getting outbid for an edge rusher.
SF & PHI are/seem desperate…

I'm still not sure how I feel about the fact that we're sitting here at NFL trade deadline week and we're NOT discussing WR as a "position of need". Incredible. Thank you Vrabel, thank you McDaniels, thank you Dirty Diggs, thank you Big Drake.
Curious if this changes depending on Boutte’s status. Offense really felt like it missed an element without him.

Yeah life with a busted Butte sucks

I really don't know why people want to add another WR. We've got a really nice WR corps and can absolutely win games with them.

I'd much rather address RB or S.
Sure we do.
Diggs, Hollins, Douglas
and Boutte with a hammy.
Williams and Chism have contributed zero

You really need to start taking unit cost into your considerations. Diggs is making good money, and Boutte is going to get a good payday, adding another 28 million payday to that unit would leave them hamstrung when they go to build up their offensive line and defense next offseason. Do they have the money to pay Waddle, yes, but what good is that when they turn into the Bengals because they are paying WR's so much that they don't have the money for OL and the defense?
Today shows us a true game breaker maybe needed to win in the playoffs.

Easy to say that after Boutte went out with injury.

The 49ers/Chargers are snake bitten. Also, if I’m the Chargers, I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place because 80% of my starting OL is finito, but I can’t afford to mortgage the future by trading for a starting quality OT; and even if I decide to, who is available & what team would be willing to trade him? Sucks because they pretty much have everything else in place talent/coaching wise. Life in the good ole NFL…

Yep, they should use alll of their draft picks and cap space to go get receivers. Then they can become just like the Bengals and have tons of receiving yards but the OL and defense will suck. Wide receiver is literally the only position you and Patsfan2 care about, the rest of the team doesn't matter, just receivers.

It does not work this way. Waddle is 26 and would replace Diggs, who is 31. The two would only play together for one season. Diggs would be cut in 2027 saving us $22.5 million.
