NFL removes replay authority from on-field referee

The number of ongoing rule changes would make one believe the game was invented last week.

IMO, changing the commercial breaks Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4 from 5,6,5,5 to 4,4,4,4 will make the games more watchable. That I like, even though the 4,4,4,4 will be slightly longer in duration.

Having a split screen commercial during live review is also a good idea.

Having centralized review for all replays is fine in principle. It should make calls more consistent across the league, which should help the players.

Having centralized review for all replays with Blandino and his team of suits making the calls in New York instead of actual referees is absurd. It will speed up the game but "fan trust" in the process will be lacking. I believe that few fans across the country actually trust Goodell and his Clowns.

To assume that guys who were surprised by the Ideal Gas Law have what it takes to make the right calls in sixteen remote locations consistently and accurately is highly questionable.

The centralized team should be seasoned referees, the best of the best. The decisions should be explained on the split screen. If it's a "by rule" decision, the rule # should be referenced on screen. As much transparency and precision as possible should be projected to the fan base. This can be done in real time centrally with a well equipped review team.

IMO, a downside of video review, is that on field officials no longer need to get it right. Even now, they can make a neutral call knowing that they get overruled by the replay decision. Going centralized may make that practice more prevalent.

Exactly. What if blandino is reviewing 5 replays at the same time? We have to wait for him to finish reviewing the other games?

"We appreciate your patience."

"All of our refs are currently busy reviewing other calls, please continue to hold. Your call is important to us and we will be with you as soon as possible."

"Currently your call is number five on the list of pending reviews."

Great. A documented liar will be placed in complete control of making the most impactful officiating decisions of every game every week? No doubt with Kensil, Pash, and Jackson whispering in his ear the whole time. That will add to public confidence, I'm sure.

So this is the year the fix is in again? The fix was in during the 2015 season, then the fix wasn't in last year. I'm guessing the fix is in during odd numbered seasons? Is that what's happening?

The fix was in last year but the refs made the calls on the Edelman catch and the game winning TD by White. The NYFL closed that loophole.

LOL.

If your call is offensive pass interference, press 1
If your call is defensive pass interference, press 2
If your call is illegal formation, press 3
If your call is illegal motion, press 4
If your call is roughing the passer, press 5
If your call is illegal block in the back, press 6
If your call is holding, please hold.
If your call is an off-the-field complaint about the New England Patriots, press 9 and the Commissioner will pick up shortly.

Poisson interarrival probabilities...

More evidence the Pats are in everyone's head. Unreal.
