I hate Thursday night games, so when I read this, I said, "Well ****, they can now move games to Thursday night" and my wife asked why they would move Patriots games to Thursday. I told her they'd move games if they started playing well and the games had playoff ramifications. She said, "Well, you won't have to worry about that".

And the inconvenience for fans is #12,873...
In the streaming age the streamer is all important.

Soon I think a one week notice will be all that is required.

Hate it. Thursday games tend to be a poor product because most of the time it’s teams playing on short rest. I’d prefer Thanksgiving be the only time games are played on Thursday, but at the very least these should only involve teams coming off their bye weeks. The NFL doesn’t care because they’re getting that sweet, sweet Amazon money from their deal.

I have just passed a resolution that I will not give a chit about Thursday games, even if the Pats play, for the reasons @Lansdowne mentions.

It provides a better game for the millions of fans watching from home at the expense of the roughly 140,000 ticket holders who have to adjust plans with 3 weeks notice.

People complain about how bad the TNF games are. Then people complain when the NFL makes a move to improve the quality of the TNF games.

No one is clamoring for Thursday night games.

Amazon averaged 13 million viewers per game last year.... so obviously someone is watching.

I don't doubt it. I think the NFL could play 7 days a week and someone would watch. It's not the point. No one is standing up demanding TNF. It's a cash grab, plain and simple. Not about player health, safety, the quality of the product or any other BS they shovel. It's about one thing.

What does this even mean? No one is standing up and demanding SNF or MNF either. But people clearly watch all those things.

Yes, the NFL is a business whose primary motivation is profit. With all due respect, you're not breaking any ground here.

So is SNF. And MNF. And the 17 (soon to be 18) game schedule. And the expanded playoffs. And international games.

If you don't like it, don't watch. But so long as you keep watching, they're going to keep giving you more of the same.

Hopefully we will actually be in a few primetime games

I'm not trying to break new ground nor am I trying to argue or debate. You said that 13m watch TNF. I don't doubt it. People would watch it every night if the NFL could figure out a way to make it work. The NFL is the biggest sport in this country and the product makes money in spite of itself. They will indeed keep giving more of the same as long as the cash flows.

For the most part, they can't do Friday or Saturday, but don't be surprised if we get a Wednesday game one of these years. Oh i don't mean a weekly Wednesday game - at least not to start - but maybe 2 or 3 the first season they try it (and I don't mean the Christmas Day games if/when Christmas falls midweek).

People laugh at me when I say Congress needs to revisit the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1960, but they do.

Elaborate, please.

Of course, player health and safety is job #1
If it were, TNF would be scheduled for teams coming off their bye.

It's ludicrous to think that an NFL player is able to refresh and heal in a 3 day span. Get the crap kicked out of you on
Sunday, no way can one be ready to play well in 3 days. TNF is, and has always been, a blatant disregard for players health.

16 game schedule with no Thursday was perfection. Straying further from it each year it seems.
