NFL needs new anti tanking measures

Really though, I just a lot of think teams are bad. Last year, the Pats won their final game, dropping them in the standings. Similarly, the Texans were ready to draft first and also won their last game. I think a lot has to do with bad teams having now back up QB, no depth and poor coaching.

Relegation/promotion is the best system for every sport. You will eventually see the USL surpass the MLS because it's building in communities all across the United States, and their system excites fans everywhere.
It is a shame that the corporative structure of major NFL sports impede this.

I didn't know about this USL, but a team that grows or diminishes according to its competitiveness is the base of a passionate fanbase for sure

It's a problem (though, truth be told, I wa spretty pissed at Mayo for blowing our tank job: let he who is without hypocrisy cast the first stone.) Once upon a time we could assume that in most cases teams would be ashamed to tank, but those more ethical days are gone, to the extent they ever existed.

I guess the lottery thing for the bottom-most few is OK: kind of a McGyverish gimmick, but it seems to work for the NBA.
Some kind of lottery is the obvious answer.

I think the draft is fine also. Adding a lottery would make it harder to believe that everything is on the up and up.
tin foil hats can be purchased on Amazon.

A simple unweighted lottery for the bottom 5 teams would be very easy to run. The league and the union would agree on an accounting firm to make the picks before a live audience.

teams want to tank, let them

done caring what jockeying for position will get ya... teams working for the draft, so what? one loss this year can lead to ten wins the next with the right guy

Its simple
Reward non playoff teams for winning games in last quarter of season wth extra draft picks.
Its not the players tanking
Its the loser front offices

Why?

Why **** with the system? There is no real reason to do anything. Monkeying around with it won't cure any broken mechanic... So a few teams jockey for position, so what?

Hell we tanked last year... we tried, but mayo got out tanked by McDermott...

Because watching multiple teams trying hard to lose against each other for a quarter of the season is not entertaining. Its like watching pre season games.
Fans and networks pay good money for this bs
Its broken
Fix it

or, hear me out here, dont watch it when the 2-13 team face off with each other

Considering we have 14 playoffs teams and almost 4-6 I. Hunt till last two weeks we can eliminate 20 teams from tanking . Bottom 12 teams would be the focus here.

Bottom 1-6 will be one lottery and 7-12 would be another lottery.

Each team odds increase based on number of wins they have in last 6 weeks ( assuming tanking doesn't start by week 11) . So lets say team A has 3 wins in last 6 weeks there will be three cards for them in the lottery bingo bowl as compared to 1 card for team with just 1 win.

Similarly Increase weightage for wins in last 3 weeks .

Add additional weightage for points differential over last 6 weeks

Add weightage for number of games played by all pro or pro bowlers in last 6 weeks .

So essentially you can assign weights for each parameters and with that the odds for you in the lottery increase .

When you do all this it incentivizes teams to go for win because they will not be able to determine what their draft order and all that they need to do is to go for win which maximizes the chances of their draft position .

I have broken this into bottom 6 and bottom 7-12 . This way poor performing teams still get a chance to land at elite talent and for that they would need to try to win .

He says he has an infection but it's not contagious.

Don't care. Horrible look to be at a Knicks game and then being ruled out. Completely different than our King Will Campbell who was on short term IR.

Management is so important and this is why the giants, jets, Bengals, etc are so inept.

This is trying to fix a problem which doesn't exist. There is no need to change from the current format.
