I need to find my shocked face.

NFL appears poised to slap Giants on the wrist for WalkieTalkieGate

NFL reconciles Browns, Giants by the number of violations

Oh wait, found it.

The amazing thing here is that the Giants blatantly and directly violated the communication rule without any ambiguity about it. Whereas during #cameraplacegate you could at least argue that "use recordings during the game" part made the rules at least a bit ambiguous.

**** the Browns got hit harder for using a cellphone between upstairs and the coaching area with a fine + GM suspension.

Clearly the standard for punishment is if Goody THINKS the player/team acted in a subversive, premeditated manner, did not cooperate with the league during the investigation or how much remorse they show for their actions.

The Giants made the call to rather beg for forgiveness afterwards as opposed to asking for permission which is why they are only getting a fine even though they had a competitive advantage.

This was expected, but still an outrage nonetheless.

In the NFL*, the punishment doesn't fit the crime; it fits the team.

If this isn't a clear act of cheating DURING A GAME which gave one team an unfair advantage, I don't know what is. But we are dealing with Mara and Jones here. Nothing to see!

NFL = WWE and Goodell = Vince McMahon. NFL is fake.

Florio says the # of violations is a determining factor in determining severity of punishment.

Shefter had some interesting comments today. He said there were a lot of top nfl execs at that game and he was shocked they allowed it to happen in plain sight. It could and should have been stopped.
He also said hes heard there are a number of nfl owners who are pissed about the slap on the wrist to mara, since what the midgets did was far worse than what cleveland did, with some owners feeling the midgets should have lost a draft pick.

Hey, I wonder of one of those pissed owners was...
Nah! Forget it!

Roger's rubberhanded justice system just keeps getting more elastic. I wonder when it'll snap.

Giant fans: "The Steelers balls were deflated they're going to lose draft picks"

Roger: "Nope that was different"

Steeler fans: "The Giants were using walkie talkies to talk to their QB......."

Roger: "Nope that was different"

Patriot fans: "How were both of those "much to do about nothing" when......"

Roger: " Because I said they were."

Funny thing is all of those things were much to do about nothing and it was Roger who made them scandalous. Now it's his self absorbed responses to the "nothings" that are scandalous.

This **** has got to blow up in his face at some time or another. Right?

That's adorable.

Thank goodness the Ravens didn't lose to the Giants or we'd have to hear about it every single day for the next 20 years.

You wonder just how far this went. Could they be yelling instructions to Eli during the plays? Like he escapes a blitz and hasn't gotten his bearings yet and someone is telling him to look to his left because they see the receiver had escaped. Or they see the safety moving pre-snap and tell him that the D has changed.

I don't believe the Giants used it to that extent simply because nobody on that sideline is smart enough to take advantage of it that way. But that's a big part of why the 15-second rule exists.

But to me that is just another myth that gets propagated with no basis in reality. Exactly where did the Patriots not cooperate with the investigation ? They made everyone multiple times available and only after the NFLs lawyers screwed up discovery by finding a text message way to late they decided that enough is enough and interviewing staff 3x is enough. And yet somehow this completely made-up myth of how the Patriots were not cooperating gets propagated the same way as "taping the Rams practice".

The Brady cellphone situation is completely unrelated to the team punishment. But whatever it's all just pointless anger that will lead to nowhere because the Krafts don't give any ****.. apart from updating a website that nobody visits occasionally.

It's not set in stone that it will be limited to a fine, this is just the typical trial balloon to test reaction. So pathetic how easy it is to see that it's all about gauging public reaction. Information wasn't "leaked".

Deion Branch on Malcolm Mitchell: Rare to see rookie earn trust so quickly
4. Imagine if Belichick had used a walkie-talkie to communicate with Brady during a game, as Giants coach Ben McAdoo did with Eli Manning in Sunday’s 10-7 win over the Cowboys? Ted Wells might be up for some more billable hours and Roger Goodell would be on the front lines talking about “integrity of the game.” Walkie-talkies are prohibited because there is no way to regulate them shutting off with 15 seconds left on the play clock, per league rules, and the NFL is investigating the situation with the most likely outcome that McAdoo and/or the Giants will be fined.

The NFL is innoculated against fairness.

"Coupled with the fact that the evidence of tampering with the footballs was inconclusive at best, the decision to hammer the Patriots while not hammering the Giants becomes even more glaring and more obviously the result not of a genuine desire to protect and promote the integrity of the league but to find a way to justify punishing a team that has consistently excelled, that is repeatedly suspected of cheating (because how else can other coaches explain to their owners the dominance of the Patriots?), and that has a coach who lacks the people skills to make others inclined to give him a break or the benefit of the doubt."
This . a 100 times this!
