Sanders wasn't coming to NE for LaFells's deal.

Yeah BB gave him a low offer. Then Denver scooped in to pick him up. It was at that point the pats went after lafell once sanders didn't come thorough.

Not saying Sanders couldn't have been better but I am most definitely arguing that BB did not screw up on Lafell. He made huge contributions to a SB season.
There was a nagging injury situation with Sanders that scared them off.

Just looked at Sanu's combine numbers vs. LaFell. Same guy. Amazingly similar.

Lafell

Height: 6024
Weight: 211
40 Yrd Dash: 4.65
20 Yrd Dash: 2.75
10 Yrd Dash: 1.64
225 Lb. Bench Reps:
Vertical Jump: 36
Broad Jump: 09'07"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.23
3-Cone Drill: 6.81

Sanu

Height: 6014
Weight: 211
40 Yrd Dash: 4.67
20 Yrd Dash: 2.74
10 Yrd Dash: 1.63
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 19
Vertical Jump: 36
Broad Jump: 10'06"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.22
3-Cone Drill: 6.88

I mean, you cannot get more similar than that.

That's not what happened though.

Sanders was a RFA with I believe 2nd round tender, Pittsburgh matched the Patriots offer (which at the time was at the level he was worth) he had a good year then for Pittsburgh which hiked his price. The following year when Sanders was a UFA he agreed to sign for Kansas then reneged and signed for Denver. There was a full year between the Pats offer and him going to Denver.

He is 6' tall and 217. Not a speed merchant at 4.62 40 but reliable and good athlete with a 6.88 3 cone. I look at him about the size of Bolden of the Niners.

I would really like to see what he can do on this team.

I am in no hurry to trade Chandler Jones. Nink is not getting younger and you really need 2 pass rushers. Him and Sheard for the next 5 years hopefully.

It is very hard to get a good edge guy drafting at 29-32 so they should hold on to him unless the deal is too good to pass up.

I thought the Jets won last year

It was close up until the knockout blow to the jaw.

There is a tendency of Patriots fans to become disappointed when they fail to sign totally mediocre non-entities. I get that new players are exciting but Rishard Matthews and Mohamed Sanu aren't particularly good football players!

I think the pats were in the mix when he became an UFA. But he looked elsewhere for more money. I really think we could have gotten him if we pushed harder.

I totally agree he helped win a super bowl. But sanders is just the better player.
But not fair to judge the success of a move based on if a better player may have been available.

We signed a guy he helped us win a SB. I qualify that as a success.

Not to mention the Bears reportedly look at White as their future WR1 and Jeffery as their future WR2 from what I heard on NFL Radio yesterday.
Yep that too. Or insurance against losing Jeffrey completely.

Only at the right price which it won't be.
