Surprised the Chiefs released Austin Reiter. He'd just signed back with the team after spending parts of 2021 with Miami and New Orleans

Morning Cousins!
Great breakfast this AM. so stay tuned.

Did you say blackberry????

That was under Sean Peyton tho, he was an elite coach so that will definitely have an impact on the team to some degree

True, but their DC then is their HC now.

EDIT: Sent this before seeing Uptown's reply, sorry.

Belichick seems to be the only one that disagrees. He seems fine with Guy, Godchaux, Barmore and Wise; and with Davis, Anderson, Cowart, and Ekuale competing for backup positions...

You just named-off the Worst DL in Football.

Barmore's gonna be double-teamed on Every. Single. Snap... and beating double-teams ain't exactly his forte.

The Pats did not address their issues in setting the edge or more run defense. The front group got worse as the season went on. How many punts did the Bills have in the last two games? It starts with those guys up front. I am afraid 32 year old Guy is in decline, "ups and downs" described his 2021 season and Godchaux has been a disappointment. Grade him mediocre. Both not terrible but replaceable. We need someone alongside the ascending Barmore. Cowart has been an enigma. Anderson might have really been missed. Davis and Ekulae are backups. They keep Bill Murray. Does he have value? Wise did not raise his game.

Back to food. Breakfast was delightful but filling. Started with a short bowl of fruit of strawberries and bananas. Then had an egg, cheddar cheese, salami and veggie (onions, tomatoes and broccoli [have to have some "good for you" stuff!]) omelet with some medium salsa on the side. As an accompaniment, I had a buttered English muffin with a dollop of very nice blackberry jam. Plus orange juice and Hazelnut coffee.

OK I'm full. Let's start with aggravating the haters. Other than Barmore, the rest can be duplicated like Wise, Godchaux and Guy (stays in the rotation) :

DT Larry Ogunjobi former the Bengals was offer a $10mm contract by the Bears. They bounced it after his operated foot was not quite right upon signing. 49 tackles, 7 sacks, 16 QB hits 6'4" and 305. Talk about under the radar and people worried about his foot Seems like a perfect BB Gamble. I am sure a prove it deal can be structured into a long term offering pending incentives. Only 27. Yes I want this guy. He takes Godchaux place at RDT. Speed and pocket pressure happen now.

DE Clelin Ferrell Raiders. Never fit their ideal of a pass rush 'sack" guy. Best at setting the edge and good against the run........but he had 35 QB pressures the last two years in a rotation. Bill says he values that more. Can play inside as well 6'5" and 280lbs. Again speed.
Former pick #4 did not have his fifth year picked up. Only 25. The Raiders will trade him. This might be the best 'no brainer" for the Pats this year. He takes RDE over Guy.

DE Jedeveon Clowney. Yep I said it. One of the best run stopping DE's in the game. Like Ferrell was Drafted as a main pass rusher. His health has always been at issue. He's only 29. Give him a three years deal. 11 sacks in 2021. 37 tackles 6'5" about 260lbs. Speed.....4.54 40. If Pass rush was not his forte he was pretty good. 19 QB hits and two forced fumbles. Imagine he and Matt Judon. Expensive? Set him at LDE for Wise.

Put these guys with Barmore and you should be pretty sporty. Pretty young and talented D line.

One last Item. Would you rather have James Bradberry over Jalen Mills as your starting CBs with Butler?

DW Toys

Love the breakfast reviews, cousin.

Is Ferrell 280 now? I always thought he was a 265-type; but he always had the frame to add more...

In order to add Any of the above, the contracts of GodHatesUsAllSmack, Hank Anderson and/or Notso Wise will first have to be restructured...or, better still, eliminated...

Travis Jones.
For whatever reason, Bill passed on him. I hope he or the other front 7 players that were there for the taking don't become another topic of discussion of players Bill passed on.

Yep, Barmore is going to command the most attention as the other lineman can be easily taken care of.

I expect we will see a lot of Barmore and Judon on the same side. Hard for opponents to double team both at the same time on the same side.

I agree the line has to get better but I don’t think we should judge the d-line as a whole without listing the best player on that line.

That's true; I had forgotten that Judon's name wasn't part of that list...

passing on Nakobi Dean in the third round will go down as one of the biggest blunders in Pats history. The best player on the field in the championship between Georgia and Alabama and you pick Cotten Eyed Joe and Dyamed If I Know...ignoring the biggest weakness the D had when it got slaughtered, eviscerated and incinerated by the Buffalo offense the last game of 2021?

Just sign Flowers….

Flowers and how about Kevin King? I'm curoious if he could move from being primarily a slot cb to playing outside. He is tall and faster than any of the current Pats outside CB's and would be relatively cheap.

Dean was taken two picks before the pats chose Marcus Jones at 85... I wonder what they would've done had the Fecals not taken him at 83...

I am probably completely wrong and am just projecting what I wanted, but it felt like a lot of the Pats picks ended up after someone many of us wanted ended up getting snagged right before their pick due to trade up situations.

How can anyone who cares about size care about Dean? That is why he fell to the 3rd round, small size and already is seriously injured. Dean was your pick in R3? Can't be. Makes no sense.

What is much more important is what happens if Penning is not picked at 19 and is available at 21? That would have changed everything. No Strange, no Jack Jones, no Bailey Zappe, and no Panthers 2023 3rd round pick. That 3rd round pick next year will be a great pick.

Sure, ignore the fact that most teams passed on him twice (at least), including the Eagles.

Also, ignore the concerns (league-wide) about his peck/shoulder as well as his size/speed.

He was a great player and leader for Georgia but is it possible that teams also felt that his production may have been augmented by all of his excellent to elite teammate, especially on the front 7 teammates. If he weren’t part of one of the most talent-laden defenses in the history of college football, would he have been as productive as he was?

Bill and co., and Bill and company alone, totally blew it. Pull your pants up, your bias is showing (again).
