I suspect that Tavai and Langi will compete for King's position. Of course, it possible that Wilson will be the one to pick up the role as one our key STers.

I don't even see Wilkerson as anywhere relevant. It is not as if he is a top special teamer. Adding a special teamer is much more likely than Wilkerson filling that spot.

Wilkerson would need to make the team as a WR. As far as I can see, the roster is full
Parker, Agholor, Bourne, Myers
Montgomery is the emergency WR, if necessary, as Gunner was last year.

If Agholor is traded it will so that we can replace him with a top draft choice or free agent or trade.=, NOT so that we can add Wilkerson.
Cousin,
I see a little bit of an experiment here based on some past methodology and some new ideas.
IMO you won't see Agholor or Harry on the opening day WR roster. Bill has a penchant of coming up with trades at WR that have been better for the Team. Parker might be the lasted example if he stays healthy. Another Louisville WR that will hopefully work like Deion Branch did.

The last "Drafted" WR to work out well was Malcomb Mitchell and his knees could not stand up to the NFL pounding. Very smart kid. Picked up the system.

I look at trades or FA pickups like Moss, Welker, Amendola, Cooks, LaFell and even to a lesser degree Stallworth, Hogan and Patterson. Better production than the Draft.

Trades I would like to see happen:

Trade with Carolina in a "blockbuster" (well worn out phrase).. The have pick #6 and don't see the light of day until pick #137 in the 4th Round. I would like to be very clandestine about how this is done. We can kill two bird with one stone. The Panthers are in "semi-rebuild". I think they see what Darnold is. They have six picks but only two in the top 53% of the Draft or so. True,......they can Trade down. Perhaps Philly with numerous picks, but Houston works with new front office personnel and Lovie Smith. Perhaps Smith can envision Travon Walker @#6 or one of the top three OT's because Tunsil might move on in 2023. The Texans have 11 Draft picks. Houston picks #13 and pick #37 in the second are close on Draft value. Two picks in the top ten for Smith to start his regime. GM Fitterer can get one of those QBs at #13 for sure without wasting valuable Draft capital at pick #6 because no QB in this class is worth a top ten for sure. Will it happen? I doubt it.

My BB type trade involves some ingenuity. Let' see if Matt Groh has the cojones. The Panthers could still get one of "The big three plus one" OBs at pick #21. They are all about equal and none special anyway.

Last year the Panthers Drafted Jaycee Horn CB. The Pats were interested in 2021 and attended his Pro Day. He was on the Pats radar according to Draft analyst Jim Nagy. Well he got Drafted by the Panthers. He only had three games before hurting his foot (3 bones broken non contact). Now healthy.

O.K. Will his injury repair stand up? I gamble yes but use that argument toward the Panthers.

If I am Matt, I am trading pick #21 and our pick in the 5th #170 from the Mason Trade so it is not so embarrassing, plus WR Harry and CB JoJuam Williams to the Panthers (who both need a change of scenery and the Panthers do well with big WR's.) for Jaycee Horn CB and Robbie Anderson WR who has not worked out for them. We need more speed. the Draft is a crap shoot. Rather take my chances with Anderson. The Panthers just need bodies (plus some picks)

Lessens our need for CB and WR in Draft.

Now I visit the Raiders and see if I can get Clelin Ferrell for D Line help for us. More speed, he is good against the run and can set the edge which killed us in 2021. I would Trade a pick and/or Agholor who had his best year in the NFL with Carr as his QB with 8 TDs and almost 900 yards. They just signed Carr to an extension. With Adams, Agholor can get single coverage. There was a comfort between Carr and Nelson. The big thing is BB talked about how QB pressures are as good as sacks. Former first rounder Ferrell did not have many sacks but....... in 2020 had 20 QB pressures and last year in a rotation had 15 pressure.

Lessens our need for D Line in Draft..

Now I visit Howie in Philadelphia. They need an edge rusher. We need a fast, very fast slot guy. Anfernee Jennings DE is an afterthought here and has not fit. So far......meh!!! In 2019 he was 4th in the SEC with 8 sacks at Alabama. He needs a change of scenery. The Pats tried him at OLB and it was not great.
The Eagles might move Jalen Reagor WR. ........Oh yeah??

"Many would probably agree that a change of scenery is what’s best for both the team and former first round WR Jalen Reagor. Might such a move be coming?
According to Geoff Mosher, there is some level of interest in Reagor around the NFL.
After mightily struggling over two seasons — and somehow being worse in 2021 than he was in 2020 — one can’t imagine Reagor would return much value in a trade. The Eagles could find themselves dealing him for a late Day 3 pick or another team’s bust. Or putting him in a larger deal as a throw in." ...........Hmmmmm! They got Barnett back but Graham is 34 years old.

Lessens our need for Slot WR and Returner in the Draft.

Finally I think we have filled the need for move LB with speed who can cover. That is Jabril Peppers at 6' and 216lbs who tackles well and can cover a TE or Running Back. Nakobe Dean is a Pats Forum Fan "binkie". Peppers is about the same size with some fairly good NFL tape.

Lessens our need for a move OLB in the Draft.

Amazing how this board completely forgets every ex Pats Coach that has failed for many reasons including this one....they try way too hard to push the “Patriot Way” on the team. You hear time and time again the locker room gets lost as early as the first training camp because of this behavior (Patricia), yet we’re asking why Josh isn’t acting like the “Patriot Way” in Las Vegas?

Players won’t respect the Patriot way unless you win. Joe Judge, McD, O Brien, crennel, never won and as a result never gained the confidence of the locker room.

Yeah.. That contract for Carr is ridiculous. He's not even a $30M
How does he keep getting so much money? He's not that good.
Davante and him are BFFS.
He is smart he’s never been Suspended.
He’s pretty durable.
He has a good strong arm.
There is a lot of hate for Carr but you could do a lot worse.

All of those trade ideas are comically lopsided in our favor. Not only would the Panthers never trade Horn for #21 + two useless players, they wouldn't also be happy to throw in Robby Anderson weeks after restructuring his contract in a way that makes him less likely to leave the team.

Players won’t respect the Patriot way unless you win. Joe Judge, McD, O Brien, crennel, never won and as a result never gained the confidence of the locker room.
The problem was that they didn't have a shot after Crennel and McDaniels' first stint. Guys like Judge and Patricia were not taken seriously and players wanted them gone as early as the first training camp. O'Brien was just a nut. Players saw these guys were Bill wannabee's and saw right thought it.

McDaniels' learned his lesson and is trying a different approach. I think he'll be more successful this time around.

If the Raiders don't make it deep into the playoffs in the next 3 years, it won't be because they overpaid their QB.

Josh wanted the QB contract behind him, so that he can focus on building a team around him.

Perhaps the cap will be a constraint. I think not.
So they overpaid the QB which literally means they must spend less on other areas. How is that not a reason if they don’t go far? Do you think overpaying players who don’t win is a good thing?

What do you think the Patriot way means?

So you think since the inception of the Patriots as a franchise in the league that they have operated the exact same way regardless of ownership, management, and coaching?

That's comedy gold

No. The definition of the patriot way is not “Bill Belichick”. It is the mentality, actions, principles, beliefs, methods, priorities and attitudes that the team operates under.
But thanks for finding comedy in your lack of understanding.

Teams make their choices of how to allocate their cap.

The Raiders chose to spend $40M a year on the top QB, witj only $29M guaranteed in 2022, and nothing thereafter, except the injury guarantee for 2023.

Another team might spend $70M of cap money on receivers and tight ends. Only two teams spend more cap money on receivers than the patriots and no team spend more than the patriots on TE's.

Some might have an easier time defending the Raiders choice of spending a bit more to lock down a top QB.

We argue whether we even have a top set of receivers after spending so much.

All of that is what Belicheck instilled. When he retires that culture will change, because it was Belicheck.

The team was different under Pete Carroll and was different under Parcells

So then based upon your statement if the patriots don’t go deep into the playoffs it won’t be because of what they spent on TEs and WRs.
We disagree that Carr is a top QB.
