With both Bolden and King gone, the ends on the Pats punting unit are going to be completely different. This will bear watching next year.

I remember Kristian Wilkerson spent some time in practice working with Slater last year. If he can work his way into Bolden or King's role, that could be his ticket on this team (assuming that Parker replaces Harry and they draft someone, it might be his only way to stick).

Given how badly the punting unit was at stopping the rush last year, it might not be a bad thing. 3 blocked punts after 5 years without even 1 is not a good look.

So if we look at this the receivers we missed on will all be the highest paid in their class.
Heck of a rookie class, we draft the guy who will be lucky to get over league minimum.
This was Belichick knowing he didn’t want to pay top money for a receiver.
Genius
Bill playing chess again.

Still hurts bad every time I think about it. Almost would have rather had Goodell steal that pick, it would have been less devastating.

I do think the market value of players does come into the equation of who gets drafted where. Centers are cheap, why draft one high in the draft. QB's are really expensive drafting a good one early can set up a franchise for years. If WR's suddenly are really valuable in free agency, of course smart teams will look at drafting them rather than signing them to huge free agency contracts. The bigger question will be the real value of those receivers. Is having a #1 and then mediocre 2-3-4 better than having 3 #2's and a #4. Will be interesting to find out.

Putting aside the fact that he’s a total piece of garbage, I would trade every WR on our roster for 1 Tyreek Hill

He’s an absolute game wrecker and impacts the game every snap he’s on the field

The obvious downside is that if he gets injured you’re screwed, but the Chiefs had a horseshoe up their ass for years when it comes to injuries to their key offensive players

I’d rather just have Bourne and Meyers then that POS Hill.

Yea in reality I would only bring Tyreek Hill onto my team so I can hit him with a truck

But the talent level, if you could suck it out of him and place it into a human being, i would give up a lot for that type of talent

He is a douche nozzle for sure, but your analysis of him as a game breaker is right on. He puts so much stress on defenses. I do like the fact that he plays on rival teams, just adds another layer of hate on it. I would not want to root for this guy in a Pats uni, but his game is sick.

Despite the best efforts of his apologists on this board, Bill is not going to look good in the rear view mirror. The media that Bill has so held in contempt will have their say, and the words of Gronkowski, Asante Samuels and Ted Johnson will carry far more weight than Bill’s loyal supporters. I suspect there will be more long knives to come in the future from former players once Bill retires or his reputation starts to decline. You’re going to see a lot of piling on.

You neglect Gronk’s elbow injury. You neglect to mention that after a great career here the most Gronk was paid was $4.5 million less than Jonnu Smith was paid, didn’t earn and never will last season and for 3 more.

The future is bleak for you Bill first, Patriots second fans. Maybe, a sub forum can be set up for you to commiserate.
You are sad.

Imagine Julian Edelman or Troy Brown with that god given speed.

It's an interesting thought exercise, because one could argue it was precisely that lack of natural speed/talent (compared to the top NFL players) that lead to their insane work ethics and team first attitudes. When you can't just burn DB's every snap, you have to learn technique, you have to make the tough catches, you have to do whatever it takes to make the team and contribute in multiple ways if you want to play more. Not to take anything away from Hill in those regards. He may not be a role model, but I'm sure he works hard at his craft.

Still, if Edelman was a 4.2 burner and played WR in college, chances are he cruises to a first round billing and who knows if he develops the same dirt dog mentality that made him the player we know and love.

Bravo,

I remember reading about Edelmans dad tying one hand behind Julian’s back when they were playing catch in the yard.

Speaking of Judge “Back in New York, he always leaned toward the offense and favored them a little more, so it’s not too much of a surprise to me,” Peppers said. “It’ll be interesting to see what he does on the offensive side because I know him as the head guy and the special teams guru. So it’ll be interesting to see him on that side and talk a little smack to him.”

Wilkerson was working as a GUNNER. That is a completely different position than blocking on the end of the line for punts.

I really wanted the Pats to draft him. He went 20th anyway and we didn't have a pick till 32. Oh well...

Yes. Three blocked punts sucks. But attempting to blame them all on those two without looking at the facts isn't a good look.
The first one against New Orleans was a miscommunication between King and Dugger. Davis also seemed to miss the guy coming in.
The second one was an issue with Tavai and the Personal Protector Davis.
The last one there were MULTIPLE breakdowns because the Colts threw a odd alignment at the Pats.

The Pats Line for the Punt against Indy was King, Gunner, Taivai, Cardona, Johnson, Collins, and Bolden. The Colts had two guys lined up to Collin's outside shoulder. One guy on each of Cardona's shoulders, and then two guys tight to the guy lined up on Cardona's left shoulder. Cody Davis, the Personal Protector is lined up to the RIGHT of Center in the backfield.

At the snap, Tavai takes the guy that was over Cardona's left shoulder. The guy across from Gunner stunts around to hit Cardona. Gunner, thinking he's helping crashes in and fails to pick up Kenny Moore who must now be picked up by Cody Davis. Davis must cut across the path of the snap to do so.

On the other side, Cardona engages the guy who was over his right shoulder. Collins turns away from Adams to engage the guy who was lined up over his right shoulder, not realizing that Davis is no longer behind him to pick up Adams. Johnson, who realizes too late that Adams has a free rush lane, is out of position but tries to get a hand on Adams, but can't slow Adams down.

It would seem that BB has "cleaned house" on Special teams letting King, Johnson and Collins gone. I'm actually surprised that Cody Davis hasn't been released. Maybe BB is hoping that Bledsoe can take his place and making it a camp competition.
