Kraft again admitting that the previous 4 years of drafts were not up to his standards (not counting last year), so unless the owner of the Patriot's is also a Belichick hater, I think that people who've taken issue with the Pats drafts have a leg to stand on in their assessment

Did you think that he would have a different view of them now than he did last year?
Of course Kraft isn’t exactly an expert on the draft.

Wow patriots have the 2 most expensive TEs in the league this year. Ridiculous
Not all the time, but pretty regularly the largest cap hit comes after the first year in a deal, in order to sign said players they need to wedge them into an already bloated salary cap situation. The Pats TE's are not the highest paid TE's in the league, these guys sign multiyear contracts... average it out.

24 NFL tight ends make at least $5 million in average salary per year per overthecap.com, a site that tracks NFL player contracts (through March 29, 2022).
The highest paid tight end in the NFL is George Kittle, who makes $15 million per season.
Second is the Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce, who makes $14.3 million per season.
Third is the Philadelphia Eagles' Dallas Goedert, who makes $14.25 million in average annual salary.
Fourth is the Baltimore Ravens' Mark Andrews at $14 million per season.
The New England Patriots' Jonnu Smith, who makes $12.5 per season, with his teammate, Hunter Henry getting the same average annual salary, are tied for fifth.

Njoku, Schultz, and Gesicki all got tagged for just under $11m - three TEs getting tagged tells you that the league knows that position is about to get much more expensive. Heck, these three are in danger of getting tagged again next year, because even 120% will be cheaper than they'll demand.

Godcheaux and algohor are both jags. Patriots pay them top of the league deals like they're elite players. Smith is USELESS and can't learn the playbook. Pats pay him #2 in the league.

It's like insisting on paying top dollar for a jalopy because you want to tell your friends you drive a 50k dollar car. Never mind you could have paid 5k for it. And belichick majored in economics? Paying a jag like godcheaux a top $ deal doesn't mean he's somehow now an elite player just because you were stupid enough to pay him like one. Common sense.

Maybe they should sign harry to a top deal? Then he won't suck anymore?

Belichick the gm killing belichick the coach. Someone take his checkbook away. And draft cards too.

Godchaux is the #31 highest paid DT, not a top dollar contract.

Agholor is 25

Huh?!? Agholor is making $11 million a season. Godchaux is making $7.5 million a season. Neither are getting paid remotely close to elite player money. Hell, Agholor is making less than half of what Tyreek Hill is making on his extension per season.

I don’t know where you are getting your numbers from. Just because they are in the last year of their deals and have a big jump in base because of it doesn’t mean they are being paid like elite players. Wait until Hill, Adams, and other paid receivers get into the last year of their deals and see what their cap hit will look like.

smh/

This is a clueless comment, sorry.

He's not paid #2 in the league, and yes, he has to play better. I notice that he's going to OTA's this year, unlike last year (birth of a child and COVID), so hopefully, he'll get things straightened out. As others have pointed out here, he didn't suddenly forget how to play football.

Godchaux isn't paid ANYWHERE NEAR a top deal, ffs. At least get the basics right.

Yeesh.

This is a terribly misinformed, hyperbolic load of nonsense.

Every position is about to get a lot richer with a new TV and gambling deal about to be signed. This is why teams are spending like drunken sailors.

The deals the Pats signed in 2021 which the negative nancy’s decried as overpayments already look like great value.

What's a cap hit..........Only joking !!!

Imagine you go to McDonald's two days in a row for a Big Mac, each costing $4. But for some reason, they give you a deal that says, "If you buy today's Mac and Tomorrow's Mac right now, we'll charge you $1 for the first one and $6.50 for the second one." You're saving 50 cents, but when you come in tomorrow and they ring up the second for $2.50 more than it "should" be, you get pissed off because it's not worth that much.

That's salary versus cap hit.

If this happens (S in Rd1), people are gonna lose their sh!t.

Not sure why anyone would be mad. We don't even know for sure that McCourty doesn't fall off this year, and the other safeties aren't really the type to play center field and cover deep.

But also, we're talking about "positionless DB", which opens up the possibility of playing CB, which is one of the weakest positions on this roster.

An early pick DB of any type, except box safety, would have an easy path to the field.
