NFL Draft Talk

Whether it’s true or not, that was a helluva draft..

I was so obsessed with this draft class leading up to the draft. We had 3 picks in the top 33.

Glad we got Solder, Cannon was a nice steal late. But could’ve done so much more with this class.

No, it would be pointless for the Raiders to trade for him. He needs to go to a contender or a team on the verge of being a contender.

Buffalo should be calling, but Miami won't do that trade. Other teams that should consider:

Cincinnati, Detroit, Houston, LA Chargers, Minnesota, San Francisco and Washington.

Nah. Still picking him. Dude is a generational talent. I don't care. Let him try to play both if he wants. Maybe he could even do it. As long as he plays full time WR, if he wants to play as many snaps at CB as he can along with that, go for it.
He'll change his tune really quickly after getting welcomed to the NFL. He will have to pick a primary position and then have spot duty at another. I think what he's doing is trying to set his value up down the road which will destroy the market if he turns out to be really good.
Gronk was built in a lab, and I refuse to believe otherwise. Ignore that he exist and look at the other TEs who catch for big yards. Not really any good blockers there, so who cares. When all is said and done I think Harold Fannin Jr. Is likely to be the best TE in this class.
Gronk is the epitome of the boom/bust player. I was not feeling good about the pick when he was selected due to his back. I loved Hernandez as a player, but thought is was bizarre they also took him in the 4th round. Both were absolute studs the second they stepped onto the field.
Thankfully the Pats won't have to deal with that issue.
Anything could happen as players drop all the time. The used the laughing emoji as our boy Mayo put them in that position where this issue won't apply to them if he's picked in the top 3.

Not really. I was a bit higher on Rattler than most and I am much further down than seemingly everyone on this class
I also liked Rattler, even thought about Drafting Nabors or Harrison Jr and coming back in the third for Rattler.

I wanted Maye or McCarthy, so while I like Rattler I did not want to pass on either of those 2.

Here's my draft predictions just a few days out...

Based on guys I think Vrabel would like, team needs, or our 30 visits:

I think Campbell and Sawyer would really bring DAWGS to both sides of the ball.

Could also see them taking Noel at 38 and picking up a pass rusher in R3 instead.

100% true. Raiders are not trading away their starting LT. Why woukd they? He has already shown he can play.
They will pay him.

The Redskins traded Trent Williams, and he’s been the best left tackle in football for a long time. Why would they do that? The Patriots traded Richard Seymour, a Hall of Fame defensive lineman, why would they do that. The Giants let Saquon Barkley walk to a division rival, why would they do that?

Answer below:

That’s way too high for Sawyer.

Sawyer is a lunch pail guy a guy who will fill his role be a team leader not a game wrecker. He’s a guy you will want to upgrade but find it tough cause how good of a teammate and reliable he is.
A culture guy to me if he didn’t play for Ohio State and put up the same tape at say Illinois, he’s a 5th to 6.th round pick.

Also a hot take i posted in another thread but am going to post here too. The last few weeks as I've learned more about him Fannin has really shot up my board. I think a lot of people are sleeping on him. I don't know why he isn't considered a 1st round talent. Every passing day I'm more and more sure he is. So he's a bit small and not a great blocker? Most TEs aren't good blockers if they can catch.

If you ignore current projected value and gave me the choice to take any TE in this class. I probably take Fannin over Warnen and Loveland

That’s insane.

Ok, so I made 7 rounds of picks using Walter Football’s 7 round mock, with the condition that the player had to be available when the Patriots are picking. I took Mike Green off the board because he was there at #82, and that’s not going to happen. I also question their running back rankings, but I allowed them to stand as is, even though I don’t agree with them. This was what I picked: I inadvertently hit post and have to edit in the rest of my picks:

#4) Armand Membou 6’4 330 Massive highly athletic tackle who just turned 21. His upside is higher than any tackle in this draft, and I believe a kid with his athleticism can play left tackle for years to come.

#38) Omarion Hampton RB UNC 6’ 220 2nd behind only Jeanty in this class. A great runner who pounds on teams. Would fit perfectly with what they want to do on offense. I don’t believe he’ll be there, but I would run the pick up if he were.

69) Jayden Higgins WR Iowa St. 6’4 216 A big athletic WR who has outstanding ball skills. Would provide Maye with a big target at all 3 levels.

77) Omar Norman-Lott DT 6’2 291 A pass rushing interior lineman who could spell Barmore and Williams in their rotation.

106) Wyatt Milum 6’6 313 West Virginia A big tough nasty versatile offensive lineman, who would push their guards if not take a starting position early in his career

144) Kyle Williams WR 5’11 Washington State A fast shifty WR who gets great separation and makes a ton of big plays, but has questionable hands, would challenge Polk, Baker, and Bourne for a spot in the roster.

149) Jackson Hawes 6’5 260 TE Ga Tech ( My Binky) Hawes is a big nasty blocking specialist who would immediately becomes Mayes personal protector as a FB/ HBack He will do all the dirty work, and live it. Beats the hell out of the opposition, just what I want.

220) Jake Majors 6’3 306. C Texas Not a great athlete, but a very sound tough Center who would provide depth and push the starter.

238) Dylan Sampson RB 5’8 200 Short compact RB Great instincts and running ability No way he will be here at this point.

* I have serious doubts about whether these players will actually be available, but word is that Walter Football actually has the most accurate draft forecast, and it’s one of the few 7 rounders available.

Pats had a great 2011 draft, imagine what could have been if they passed on Ras-IR at 33?

Still Solder, Ridley, Vereen & Cannon is a good draft. Imagine trading the 3rd round pick used on Mallett to move up 2 spots and grabbed Cam Heywood. I remember that was the Cam draft, I wanted the Pats to draft both Cameron Jordan and Cameron Heyward,(not Cam Newton)

Maybe i'm right, maybe i'm wrong. We'll know in 5 years. However just to be clear. I am not saying we should pick him much earlier than his 'projected value'. No need to not let other teams make mistakes and take advantage.

I thought you were suggesting he should be taken ahead of Warren and Loveland. Unfortunately he is really limited athletically, and I think that will show up at the next level. I think he could end up similar to Cole Kmet, but I don’t see him becoming a premiere TE in the NFL.

Unless a trade/unexpected selection @ 2 or 3 happens, get ready for:

-LT Campbell
-T Membou
-LB Walker
-RB Jeanty (unlikely, but based on BPA)

I'm actually excited for it these guys aren't without flaws or just play a position typically not valued at 4 overall but I think getting to choose from this list and pick the one we think is best for us is still a very good position to be in.

I'm good with Campbell, Membou, Graham, Walker, Jeanty, Warren, Tet, or Johnson. Probably in that order for me. But the key is which one is Vrabel not worried about? Arms, RT instead of LT, lightweight DT, or just a position that's not quite as important.

I mean I get it this draft isn't as good as normal but we're still talking about picking the best player at their position.

Just did another one, surprised it wasn’t that much different. This one was based off of Chad Reuter’s 7 round mock.i think this one is a little closer to reality, but there’s still choices I doubt would be there. But if they could do this I would be really happy with it. I picked Membou over Campbell because I think the ceiling for him is really really high.

4)Membou

38) T. Henderson RB OHIO ST.

69) J. Higgins WR

77) W.Milum

144) Bradyn Swinson Edge LSU

149)Tory Horton WR Colorado St.

220) R. Fitzgerald K FSU

238) J. Hawes TE Ga.Tech

Walker is the only one I wouldn’t want. He’s a good player but he doesn’t have a position.
