Mariota is 24, so let's call 28 the cutoff age for "young QBs" (using only current, or obvious, but injured (or the like) starters), which let's us use Russell Wilson (29) as the start of the "older" QBs.

Winston
Luck
Tannehill
Goff
Wentz
Kizer
Bortles
Watson
Carr
Osweiler
Prescott
Bridgewater
Trubisky
Newton
JAG

Other than Kizer, Bortles and Osweiler, I'm not sure you can clearly put Mariota above any other QB on that list.

I'd take Mariota over all except a healthy Luck/Cam, Jimmy G & maybe Wentz.

Tampa Bay fans would trade pieces of their body for a do over on that draft pick.

I'm thinking Josh and Matt already knew their fate weeks ago - they are just going through the motions.

I think for Matt it will be the Lions or nothing.
I think for Josh it will be the Chicago Bears if anything and I am not sure he will leave - I think he stays.
Losing Flores to the Cardinals is extremely possible.

No links ... just my thoughts on it.

I don't think Cardinals go in any direction other than offense.
They need a offensive guru to help with whatever QB they bring there.
So I'll go with one of the Eagles assistants of Minnys OC

They have the pieces for a strong defense. Bringing in a good hc who has a defensive background and hires an OC to develop a qb is a solid approach.

It seems to me that all of these “QB whisperer” Head coaches don’t seem to do very welll.

Mcvay

What about him? He’s coached one season.
And he wasn’t a qb coach either.
He's a offensive minded coach and his team has had a complete turn around he has Goff playing good ball Gurley is MVP this season.
He should be coach of the year
I'll take that

It’s one year. That’s all you have?

TE coach isn’t “QBs whisperer” is it?

He was OC 3 years in WASH before going to the Lambs. TE coach before that under Shanny Sr. Hes a West Coast offense guy.

I know that.
A) a poor example to my comment because he has been a hc 1 year
B) a poor example to my comment because he is not a QB guy

My larger point being an centric coaches usually are more successful as OC under a defensive minded coach and seem to fail as HCs often.

I wouldn't want the Indy job because the Colts front office and fans seem convinced Luck will be the next Peyton Manning. Some coach is going to have to break the news to them that he's just a decent QB or possibly if medical issues keep up get rid of him.

I think when that happens the Coach goes down as well for not letting Luck "live up to his potential."

Josh and Matt are interviewing this week. When it is all done, I expect Josh to go with the Bears and Matt with the Lions. My big worry is BB's tenure with the Pats. There have been a lot of stories about tensions between BB, Brady, Brady's Guru and Kraft. My suspicion, BB did not want to trade Jimmy G and, in fact, may have been thinking of dumping TB12 after this season and elevating JG to #1. He did it before, dumping Bernie Kosar in Cleveland when Kosar still had something left in the tank. Also he dumped high priced vets in NE (Law, Wilfork, Seymour) when they still had some tread left on their tires. Kraft looks upon TB12 as his son and may have disagreed with BB if he, indeed, had plans for JG as #1. I hope I am wrong (probably am), but it would not surprise me if BB resigned after this season and maybe became an adviser like Parcells did with Miami. Imagine a Pats team without BB, Josh and Matt. I hope my doomsday scenario is just a bad dream.

At this point I will start comparing clowns like you who keep repeating this ESPN level ******** about BB/Brady/Kraft to flat earth conspiracy theorists because that is the same level of derangement.

So Gruden or even Mike Shanahan aren't upgrades over Lewis?

This is all about control and Mike Brown wants it.

Not sure Gruden is an upgrade, he was 57W & 55L as the HC of the Bucaneers 9 years ago... doubt he would want the Cincinnati gig anyways, Gruden has turned into the "Hollywood Type".... they will love him out west as he was gently massage the testicles of the press.

Shanahan was 24W and 40L in his most recent 4 year gig in DC... was not aware he was looking for a new job at age 65.

That was Breer's opinion I was recounting...

Meh. I'd take Gruden and Shanny over Lewis in a heartbeat

A reminder Jon Gruden didn't win a single playoff game in his past 6 seasons in the league.

$100 million.

I'm convinced Belichick would get a lifetime deal worth over $500M from some struggling team if he was ever available, lol
