I log every play during the game for the stats database, which I go back and audit on Monday. Then I take that same spreadsheet and view every play when it comes out on the All-22, and then visually log every player who was in on each play on both offense and defense (and special teams), and add that into it.This is awesome Ian!
I’m curious how you are getting the data. Does the nfl have an api with public endpoints?
Holy smokes — Impressive work!!!!Unfortunately, no. I log every play during the game for the stats database, which I go back and audit on Monday. LOL, thanks. It's tough, not going to lie. About 3-4 hours every week is what it takes. But obviously, having the data is certainly nice, and it's been interesting going through it each week after it's done.Holy smokes — Impressive work!!!!
Forgot to bump this. @Mike the Brit
This was updated, and the reason it was so delayed this week was that Bryce Baringer came out to hold the ball on one of the Patriots' kickoffs. Even though he immediately ran off, that counted as a snap.
That threw me off because I didn't account for a situation that would ever require 12 players. So I had to backtrack and adjust everything to work with that. But it is updated.
Just trying to create some awareness for those pages, given how little they're viewed/used. The snaps one will hopefully become a little more interesting when guys aren't going down with injuries mid-game. It is set up to ignore guys who were on the inactive list the previous week to prevent obvious spikes up/down, and hopefully highlight guys who are instead seeing more/less playing time. Can you hide the risers and fallers data? It's meaningless without context to me. Same goes for the stats widget? RE: pf_stats_widget?
QB attempts were wrong on the "Compare" blocks for QBs on this page. It was pulling the snap counts for the attempts. It's been fixed. Also, there's a new stats page I mentioned that has been upgraded, where you can now do your own comparisons and see the numbers based on who is/isn't on the field. So, in addition to the main screen where you can see totals, you can now also click the "Compare" button, and it will show you a chart with the results with/without those players, and you can click on each tab to view the results with the passing, receiving, and rushing totals:
