Right, but that's the point - teams wildly overinflate the relative value of high end picks.
I don't know that it's that general though. I mean, has there ever been a team that traded up because it increases their odds of getting "a" better player with an earlier pick? Don't they always have one specific player in mind?
So, maybe it's more that teams wildly over-inflate the value of the one specific player who they want?
