I'm just about done with Scal.

He's the NBA version of Dan Fouts

I would punch Allen’s face until it was nothing but a chunk of meat on the floor and I could no longer lift my arm if I could get away with it. That little rat-faced nancyboy has the most punchable face I have seen since Wallace Shawn.

Carsen Edwards is going to take minutes from somebody we have a Steph Curry type shooter on our Team haven't had a shooter like that on this Team for a while. Going from Kemba to Edwards means no rest for the Defense. Brad Stevens needs to make this work he gets pass for the train wreck in the Playoffs.

I think that's a bit ludicrous. And it's true whether we like to hear it or not that he's been badly exposed trying to defend on the perimeter. The other night against...Denver I guess?... they ran right at him for awhile and it wasn't pretty. I think he's a worthwhile project, but he's way to raw to do anything more than sit at the end of the bench right now, and I have doubts he can ever be more than a interesting backup. But interesting enough that he's worth taking a flier on.

I actually watched a little of that Summer League game vs Memphis. You could help but be excited about THREE of the Celtics players coming out of the Summer League

    G. Williams - For an undersized forward he has shown me a LOT. He's going to get minutes this year and I think he will shine. Defensively he's been a force on the ball. He is smart AND quick. Offensively he's shown much better range than he did in college. IIRC he's shooting over 40% from 3. But it will be his defense and smarts that will earn him minutes right off the bat.

    R. Willaims - this is probably the most exciting development because of the big need for bigs on this team. Looks like he's another guy with a high basketball IQ, at least on the offensive end. He's an excellent passer as well as an offensive threat around the basket. The big question will be if he's ready to play great defense as well. He certainly has the quickness and athletic ability to be special on that end.

I like him enough to say that in 2 more years, he could wind up being the steal of the 2018 draft. If I look at a comparison, think Clint Cappella.

Edwards - Again this is another guy who might end up being the Terry Rozier replacement IF he can play effectively on the defensive side of the ball. If that winds up to be the case, he also was a draft day steal. In college he was a guy who seemed to play his best against the best competition.

To have 3 guys who stand out in the Summer League is rare, and why the C's have been so dominant thus far....and that doesn't count Taco. ;)

You can't help but love Taco. He's a real oddity, who has little going for him except his height. Here's the thing. I can't see him being able to defend NBA bigs for a 10-20 minute stretch. BUT what about this scenerio. The C's take a idea from the Pats. You keep Taco as your #15 guy firmly attached to the bench. But you use him for just 3 or 4 plays a game when "SITUATIONAL basketball" requires him. For example to guard an inbound pass at the end of a game. He'd be a beast to get the ball in off of. A long end to end pass at the end of a game. What a target.

For a play or two he could be used in a number of strategic ways enough to justify that #15 slot. That's why he's a perfect 2 way fit, playing significant minutes up in Maine to improve his overall game, while coming back to Boston when the situation match up might be advantageous. Just a thought. At worse, he'd be a great fan builder up in Maine and help fill that arena

Man, the perimeter stuff is way overrated. How many bigs can do that? Not many. Freaking Kanter sucks at D yet he got millions. Tacko is a defensive force in SL and that won’t change in the NBA. Length is length. Did you see him run the floor? Faster than some do. Also, he moves his feet extremely well and hardly anybody gets by him. Many times last night he swallowed guys up and they had to kick the ball out. He does many things well, yet people focus on the few things he needs to work on.

Not like you can’t say the same for most NBA players.

Agree with you, but just saying that it is possible for anyone to average 25 ppg in the NBA given the minutes on the floor and the ball being fed into the post 50 times in a game.

Given the contract that Tacko is working under, and the fact that he's not yet had that contract ripped up in favor of a more standard contract, there's obviously a damned good reason to focus on the possible reasons why that's the case.

    Comments:

1.) Like you said the other day...we haven't even seen Langford yet and he was our highest pick.

2.) I love it that folks are watching Summer League. The competition is watered down, but I think we have something from our draft/UDFA class this year.

Yes. There is no rush. No need to to make a move unless there is a compelling need to do so.

I want Tacko to be the next Shaq or KAJ but that ain't happening.

I think everyone agrees Tacko needs a bit more physical and basketball skill development. He also needs more ****pit time playing against solid competition.

I've been playing and watching basketball for 35+ years. I'm not an expert but what I do know is Tacko has some talent and has physical gifts which make up for some lack of skill he may never acquire. I think Danny would say the same thing.

I firmly believe he can have a role in the NBA. I've seen enough to know that.

I think Tacko is in the mix ...
However Ainge would not be doing his job if he filled that 15th slot right now.
It very well could be Tacko but players will be cut soon and the reality is Ainge has until the training camp period to make a decision ... and he is wise to do it.

I don't get the Strus thing unless it will come down to him or Wannamaker.
Maybe in the end Strus replaces Wannamaker and Tacko gets the 2-way occupied by Strus.
Then Ainge also brings in what they are lacking to fill the last spot.
