Unless the argument is about why Bill gets credit for building the dynasty by drafting Brady, Seymour, Wilfork, Edelman, McCourty, Hightower, etc. Those are brilliant picks that other GMs wouldn’t have made. But how dare anyone take that same approach when discussing draft pick failures…in that case the draft is an unknowable crapshoot.
If Harry had been great, you’d be the first one praising the team and wouldn’t say anything about randomness or how every team is in the same boat.
There are numerous threads on this forum dating back to 2018 sounding the alarm on the god awful draft returns from 2013-17 and how those drafts were so barren that it‘s a stretch to explain it by luck alone. The honks scoffed at the idea. After 2018, there was more concern raised, and after 2019, more. The honks scoffed. The entire time people have cited extremely bad draft returns, even taking into account the draft position because the return was so anemic not just for the Patriots but compared to the league.
Posters like you just take the company line on everything. Everyone was always overreacting, spoiled…they’re so naive and reactionary to think they know more than Bill!
No one claimed they knew more than Bill. Like any fans, many have thought honest discussion was necessary and perhaps the Patriots scouting/personnel needed some accountability and change. No one expects every pick to be perfect or even every draft to be fruitful overall. That doesn’t dismiss abysmally low returns over many years.
Despite that few major contributors from their dynasty have actually retired, the team has gone from a perennial 12-4 squad to 7-9, and even after an NFL record offseason of free agency spending, are projected to be about .500 again and a long-shot to win the division
But by all means, continue to dismiss analysis, criticism, and concerns centered around the Patriots drafting and personnel choices.
