I'm wondering if Lowe might be OK as a stop-gap measure until a drafted player is ready. If I recall correctly he had a couple of decent starts along with some real stinkers. The key point is he doesn't seem a lot worse than Robinson, at least last year.

I checked PFF and the stats there aren't a lot different for Lowe. Overall ratings about the same as Bedard's.
PFF gives a small edge to Robinson. Of course in his prime Robinson was a really good player but last year was a downturn.

The issue is that last year the whole line was a disaster - chopping and changing who played where, never giving weaker players help when needed. So might Lowe improve with more stability and better coaching? I know it's not what anyone wants to hear - just trying to be realistic here.

RB is a bigger need than just a 3rd down situational player.

Vrabel wants a physical team and physical teams run the ball.

Good job Ring
I like Will Campbell and Ozzy Trapilo in the draft
Brandin Cooks and draft another WR
Also would not mind trading for Brandon Aiyuk if it is not more than a 4th
Need a RB. If Gibson is not our 3rd down back then we need to draft one. McDaniels system thrives on one
Cooks would be a waste of money. There's a reason why he's been on a Billion different teams so far (yes, that's a hyperbolic statement, but it makes a valid point). I like Trapilo after the 3rd Round. Agree with no more than a 4th for Aiyuk. But I'd actually go no more than a 5th given his knee is a mess and they'll have to pay him a big contract. If he pans-out, they could include an additional pick in 2026, a 6th Rd one ).

Moore was the first to sign so he has a market.
Robinsons market isn’t Moores because teams looking for LT have been eliminated.
We may not have much competition. Who else is he negotiating with?
He could end being a one year prove it deal and Vrabel looks like a genius
Robinson is a turd who wants diamond money.

Robinson is a turd who wants diamond money.
He’s a better turd than the turd we are stuck with now.
And a year ago he was highly thought of. Reports are that he is injured.
I’d rather spend the money on an upgrade that may not be a giant upgrade than just not spending it and letting Kraft keep it in his bank account

Wish list on how to use our remaining $

Option A

Tyron Smith - LT 2 year/17M (first year 7.5M) - It is a short term solution.. but he is a decent LT still and will do the job well this year. Kick the can down the road and be done with it. He hasn't played a full 16/17 games in a while... but if all checks out he gets you 13 quality games and Lowe wasn't horrible as a pass blocker if we need him to spot start.
Teven Jankins - G 4 year/54M (First year 11M) - This is a more long term option at guard. Locks down one guard spot long term. And we need to make sure Guard is a strong spot for us as we are probably stuck drafting a center.... cause no starters are in free agency right now.

Draft

4th pick - Travis Hunter - WR
38th pick - Grey Zabal - C

There are other odds and ends that will be needed... but for the key spots this would be fairly ideal.

Option B

Cam Robinson - LT 3 year 55M (First year 14M) Hopefully the contract has incentives... I don't think we get him on a shorter term team.
Amari Cooper - WR 2 year 29M (First year 12M) Yeah it is a bit of an over pay. But it gives us a #1 if all else goes wrong.

4th Pick - Abdul Carter DL and get a WR later in the draft for long term. But if he isn't there...

Trade Down and pick up Matthew Golden - WR and Tyler Booker - Guard (you'd need to trade back up for this of course). I am not into trading picks for next year. A short term move to trade back in sure... but they need help now at key spots.

38th Pick - Grey Zabal - C.. I just really like him and think he fits just too perfect here. Maybe even trade up for him if you think he won't be there. He just fills such a need... is in a sweet spot in the draft for them and should be ready day 1. And i don't think any team will trade you a center.

Which do you like better if the draft pick you want isn’t there?

Sorry, not sure 100% what you mean.

I prefer option A as i want more vets on the OL than rookies ideally. Even highly drafted rookies. I don't want too many question marks around Maye. Between Booker and Golden... i like Golden Moore. I think we really need to lock down the Guard with a player i feel very confident in, and it will make the Jobs of the tackle and new center easier if we don't get Zabal and can't trade for anyone.

Your plans are contingent upon the guy you want to pick being available.
So are you better with A big Hunter being gone before we pick or with B but Carter being gone before pick, including the likely scenario both are gone.

100%. I think people are sleeping a lot on the lack of talent at RB going ahead. We all kept overvaluing Rham based on some good runs, decent potential but the guys a season away from being a backup and not a bell cow RB.

So True.

Vrabel is not going to put up with losing the ball. In Tennessee, Henry had 300 attempts and lost the ball 5 times in 2019. Last season Stevenson and Gibson had 300 attempts and lost the ball 9 times.

I know I'm beating a dead horse here (as I stated this before last year's draft). I wanted Braelon Allen if he was in the 4th Round of last year's draft (he was, and we didn't draft him). Had we done so, we'd only need to draft one solid RB in this draft. Now, we NEED to draft TWO solid RB's. One "Workhorse Back" with receiving upside, and one "3rd Down Back" with running upside. Fortunately, RB (a long with DL, TE, and Edge), are deep this draft. I hope they can at least draft one RB who becomes a Stud. Although one Stud and one solid RB would be fine. And if they only draft one, may he become a Stud!

I like Allen, I think given more snaps he has a 1200+ scrimmage yard potential

I really love this Jeanty kid since I’ve started watching. Drafting an RB at 4 is dumb but if they play the trade game and move down I’d be totally fine with that.

I only follow LSU generally in college so I’m just playing catch up now and my knowledge for college is pretty much limited to those games, highlight reels and stats. But he’s an eye opener

Sadly this appears to be Vrabel's plan.

Agreed. I wouldn't take any RB at #4. Would I take him from #11 on? Yes. But even then, considering how deep this draft is regarding RB's and players with potential at other positions that we'd be best served hitting on in the Top 20, I'd wait until later in this draft for a RB or two.

7 of which was Stevenson who clearly has a fumble issue. We need another thumping between the hash marks running back as I think Rham's productivity is on the decline. Gibson is more of a James White back vs how he was used last year and should be more productive in JM's offense.

I am wondering if fumbles occur more with poor OL play. It seems reasonable to think that if the OL opened up bigger holes that there would be less fumbles. Getting to where there is more space seems like there would be less opportunities for stripping the ball out.

I don't think it's fair to say Rham is on the decline.

He clearly has a fumbling problem.

But his play otherwise has been pretty consistent. Every year of his career he averaged above 50 yards rushing per game. His best season was only 60 per game and his 2nd best was last year at 53.

I think we all hoped he would improve in his 3rd and 4th season but I don't see a declining player yet. Just someone who has a flaw that's been exposed. Can he/Josh fix the flaw?
