Mounting frustration in Denver locker room: "Any time we hold Brady to 16 points, we expect to win!"

They only allowed 16 points and shut down Tom.

If we did that to say Green Bay or ATL I'd say the same thing.

Outstanding pass defense? Sure. But when you're desperate for a playoff spot, you gotta come stronger against the run. Pats were able to control the pace of the game, and the Broncos D couldn't get them off the field.

Brady took the game plan and executed. 6 drops didn't help him get into any kind of rhythm at the start, but he found his Binky 11 and with a great O line performance, was just fine down the stretch. That's the beauty of Brady - he takes what the D gives him and was methodical in how he carried the O yesterday. No forcing anything, no panic. Our D was so solid he didn't need to and Brady cares less about his stats. Personally, its one of his best games this year. He really is the perfect QB for this team (or any team for that matter).

Those incompletions were far more on Brady throwing poorly than on dropped passes. That was one of the worst opening quarters he's played in a long time. I was wondering if something was wrong. Then he got it corrected, although still had a very difficult time connecting with anyone other than #11.

Not True!!!! Felger says that Elway shows an alternative way of building dynasties!!!!!!

Hmmm. How would you know that?

Why in the world would Kubes have someone speak right after the game and make it an offensive player? No wonder tempers boiled over. Those guys are still in the heat of the moment following the game. That's something that...

1. Should have been given to a defensive player.

and

2. Should have taken place today.

That's the same kind of thinking that took place when I first started watching football and coaches and players didn't get together for handshakes after games. They were still too hot and fights could erupt.

whoa there denver D guys calm down you got a game next week must win!
We pretty much ended their season last night.
Living in Denver, and seeing the reactions in person and on social media, I think this game will be the turning point that marked the Broncos' devolution into rebuilding.

Everyone is calling for Kubiak's head already, they need an entirely new OL, no good plan at QB, their D can't stop the run; and going forward, that Von Miller contract could really hinder their attempts at remedying all those problems.
Good. Elway got all this praise for being a genius, but in fact he got lucky that Manning chose DEN. Elway wants the narrative to be about him, so much so that he was willing to go into the year with Mark Sanchez at QB. He's been lucky that Simian has emerged, but as we saw yesterday, he's no Manning. The reason why Manning kept getting the ball even when he was clearly diminished was because he could still make the short throws and was excellent at protecting the ball. Yesterday we saw how a key interception could change a game.

And now, DEN has a lot of big money spent on "superstars" but outside of the well paid players the rest of the team is weak. The SB success made it easy for other teams to overpay for their 2nd tier players and their 3rd tier players haven't stepped up. Elway is going to see that you need more than a pen to develop a team. As we know around here, it's about building a team, not about acquiring talent.

It also shows why you some times need to let go of the Jamie Collins and Chandler Jones of the world to build a more balanced team.

That was kinda the plan.

The goal was to keep TB12 in check and they only yeilded 16 points to this offense. That is a major accomplishment in itself.
Not when you are scoring 3. The patriots took no chances. If they needed to score more points they would have called an entirely different game.

A seasoned, experienced team like DEN with a rock-solid defensive scheme does what it needs to do to execute the game plan and they did it.

The limited LG to 31 yards on 17 carries. D Lew was great but he didn't go off for 8ypc. They ran for 3.5ypc and a long of 14. Thats pretty good containment.

Pats were able to control the pace of the game, and the Broncos D couldn't get them off the field.

This is where complimentary football comes in. If DEN was able to score, the Pats would not have ran so often.

Exactly. There has been alot of folks here admiring The Emperor's New Clothes from this game. That was a C- game from Brady yesterday. Given the Secondary he was up against, though, I' give him a solid B-.

He was badly missing some very easy 5 yard throws early on and the Edelman (sideline miracle) and Mitchell (sliding twisting back catch) later made him look better on some incredible catches.

"We held the Pats to 16, we should've won!"

Not when you only scored 3, idiot. If you scored 10, or 14, the Pats would've opened their offense up more and scored 24 or 30. Your offense played like a pile of dog crap so the Pats played it safe and ran out the clock on you because they could.

Which kind of sounds like a defensive issue to me and not just an offensive issue, but what can I tell ya, I'm just a football fan

Of course they didn't take any chances. DENs D still played outstanding.

One thing you can take from all of this is that Denver really wanted and really thought they were going to win this game. I think the Denver defense played lights out but the Pats D played just as well. This was a game Denver really, really needed. At the Chiefs and home to the Raiders will be tough. 8-8 is in there future.

Except for the INT at the goal line, I thought Sperm played reasonably well at QB and Denver's defense was excellent. The Bronco's woes on offense have everything to do with their non existent running game. Last year, even with garbage QB play, their solid ground attack kept defenses off balance allowing Forehead to make occasional big plays.
Looking at how Elway has deployed Denver's roster $$$ this year, he has built an unbalanced team with too many assets on the defensive side. Factor in the continued no-show / soft play of Demaryius Thomas, Denver has offensive issues that can be solved in one offseason IMO. Fortify the OL and secure a quality RB and Denver should improve enough to be contenders once again. Add a Romo-type and Denver could be king pin again given how well their D performs. Age will be the only mitigating factor on D and for this reason I expect Elway to go for it this off season with a heavy dose of offensive assets drafted/signed.
Denver's time is not over IMO.

I never expected Mitchell or Hogan to get many targets yesterday, both are good players but I expected Talib and Hogan to control them. Brady did have some struggles but he also showed he could get the win without Gronk or his wideouts. Once again he found a way to win and that's always been his greatest strength.

They won the Super Bowl last season when their QB didn't throw a touchdown in the playoffs.

I appreciate TJ Ward making a bonehead play and getting flagged for unnecessary roughness. I was watching the game with my 8 year old and explained to him that you can cost your team the game when you are thinking about yourself instead of the team. The pats winning the division and securing a 1st round bye was the icing on top of the cake. What a great Sunday afternoon!
