Monitoring Wynn injury situation (Placed on IR)

I remember posting early in BB's career about how many OTs they used. For like the first 6 or 8 years of his tenure, they HAD to use 4 OTs because of injuries.. And no. It wasn't just "odd years".

Agreed, the really tough part this year is that the planned #3 and 4, Veldheer and Cajuste, never made it into the picture. So they've been auditioning a series of 5th and 6th options with predictably uninspiring results.

Sorry, Luuked, but Washington isn't getting a 1st from anyone for Williams. It was already debunked that the Patriots supposedly offered that up in the off-season.

I wouldn't call a 12.5M salary a "big pay day" considering what other Starting Tackles have signed for recently. Yes, the 12.5M would hamper the Patriots some, but people didn't think they could free up money this year yet they did.

And I said a 3rd round pick in my scenario to Ashley. Next, it doesn't negate anything if Wynn is out for an extended period.. The injury did that.

The Patriots have pushed money into the future previously. Hell, they did it to sign Antonio Brown. That's how they have 24.75M tied up in him next year if they pick up his option or 4.75M if they don't.

Yeah, none of that makes any sense to me given how they built the roster usually. Whatever we will see.

Also if there is no major injury I am not sure I'd take Williams over Wynn anyway once you consider everything (cap hit, compensation, development..).

If none of it makes sense, one has to ask how closely you've been following what the Patriots have done with the Salary Cap this year. They pushed money into next year with Gilmore. With Cannon. With Antonio Brown. And they've done so in years past as well.

Who said anything about taking Williams over Wynn once you consider everything?

All that was pointed out was a POSSIBILITY. Nothing more.

Any word if he actually came back out to the bench or the severity of it? Hopefully its minor and he can come back. Luckily we dodged a bullet with cannon

The kid is talented. But availability is more important than ability.

Dependability and availability are two attributes BB always mentions when he talks about great players.

I'm not worried

Someone said he did, but I've not seen it confirmed by anyone..

Belichick gave an injury update.

Does Newhouse get a ring ? Discuss.

I didn’t see anyone reporting that they saw him in the locker room after the game.

Me neither, which is a tad concerning.

After last week’s game Cannon was in the locker room and in good spirits.

Not a sight or sound of Wynn.

Trying to stay relatively positive but that seems a bit ominous.

Fingers crossed.

Early reaction, but in the event this turns south...

I know most posters are in the “don’t move around players because you are weakening more than one spot”. Having said that, if Cajuste returns, does it make sense to try him at LG and Thuney at LT ?

What kind of minor foot injury would result in a 300 pound dancing bear being ruled out so quickly?

Fearing the worst, hoping for the best.

Assuming Karrass-Mason-Cannon for the majority of the season ...

I’d try Cajuste at LT and see how he handles it.

If he flops, then I’d tend to think Newhouse or Cunningham would play LT. I think Thuney offers greater value at LG.

I could be wrong though, in which case your suggestion is probably the next best option.
