Milton had a surprising number of balls batted last year. Bizarre.
It's a combination of bad luck and throwing motion. Josh Allen will similarly drop the ball on the way back, many of these real hard throwers do that, it helps the velocity but also makes the arm action lower and longer for lineman to get a chance to knock it down. Brady would always go straight back with the ball.
Allen had almost 1 a game in 2021 and 2022 but only 4 all of last year so there is some luck even when a tad more prone to it. Milton will be more prone to it and red zone is always more congested but not anything that would be worrisome, if he becomes Josh Allen we can live with it LOL

Sometimes it feels to me like any practice that isn't 100% perfect gets labeled "sloppy". Like a couple of procedural errors out of 100 plays somehow means the whole thing was chaos. I wonder if having reporters at these camp practices is actually good for anyone (including the fans).
Maybe im missing something, but there use to be reports from fans on here about the practices. What ever happened to those? All we get now are tweets er X's from reporters.

It's good for team owners, getting a free way to make fans to engage more, which leads to spending more.

It's good for the reporters, getting clicks and followers

Probably not great for the rest of us. If reading analysis of a real game is like smoking a fancy Cuban, reading tweets of camp practice is like scouring ashtrays for cigarette butts that might still have a few drags left.

Lowe was terrible last year.
We brought on a prospect, gave him horrible coaching, and expected him to be solid starter as part of a horrible line and the #31 Offense in the NFL.

I don't know whether Lowe could be an OK backup (#3 or #4 OT) for us this year. BUT, judging totally based on 2023 seems wrong.

I would think playcalling has a big impact as well. If you're trying to run a quick passing game with a lot of short throws over the middle, that's when DL have the best chance to bat passes down. Really doesn't make that much of a difference if the QB is 6' or 6'4 as DL are that tall as well, and the taller QB is likely throwing the ball downward slightly on short stuff so when it goes over the DL the difference is very little. That's why I think the complaint against a shorter QB is slightly overblown, although the taller QB should have a little easier time seeing the field

Except there is a correlation on success related to height of QB. Bryce Young can't see the middle of the field on many plays. Drew Brees said he would not only stand on his toes to see but many times could not see the receiver and just threw it to where the receiver was supposed to be, not sure many QB's have that special talent.
The ones that have some success other than Brees are scramblers and generally throw deep more than middle. Wilson, Kyler Murray have to scramble regularly to get a passing lane and see. No wonder Wilson has fallen off as he's aged and lost some of that ability.
I think since 2000, with bigger players it's been Vick, Wilson and Murray under 6 feet and even under 6 feet 2 it is Brees, Purdy (maybe, see what happens if he's not on 49ers stacked team) and not sure who else.

@signbabybrady has chimed in time to time but anyone can get lost in all the tweets
For me and I know some other posters feel the same way. Twitter beats us by hours so doesn't seem as useful as it once was.

I used to write up a post each time after I returned from practice back in the Mrs B days. I kept it up for a few seasons after Twitter but it's so late in the news cycle that I just stopped.

I'll respond to tweets if I saw it the same way or disagree with how it was reported. Example sometimes you see a tweet about a good play but you were there and you know White was in the backfield for a sack so I might add that context.

I wasn't there yesterday so I can't speak to the sloppiness. Overall I think there's been a few fumbled snaps and the O-line has been sloppy as a whole at times but I haven't felt like there's a lot of penalties leading to sloppy practices or a lot of fighting so discipline seems ok more a lack of skills at times

Very true, I moreso meant it's overblown in regards to passes batted down at the LOS. When Zappe had some passes batted down it wasn't necessarily because he's short, and there's no guarantee a taller QB won't have plenty of balls batted down depending on the playcalling and OL play
