BTW, the Pats dodge a bullet here. If Tomlin stepped down after last season, there is a chance that Arthur Smith and not Josh McDaniels would be OC of the Patriots. Vrabel loves Arthur Smith.
Sometimes OC's like our Josh McDaniels twice don't make good HC's.

He's going to Miami. God, that seems like the perfect fit. His one great quality is getting malcontents to not kill each other.
Can't see him going to a Team with $h!tty QB's: it would be like his former Team all over again.

There's no opening with a good QB after NYG. Not unless the Ravens want him.

Interesting mike Hmmmmm.

Obviously McCarthy won a Super Bowl as GB HC. Maybe this has something to do with Rodgers ? IDK

I thought Rodgers was one of the main reasons McCarthy got fired from the Packers. I specifically remember Terry Bradshaw blasting Rodgers on air the day the firing happened and saying "Happy birthday, Aaron. Congratulations on getting your coach fired." lol

LOL what are they doing???! All i can think is maybe hes just a placeholder until a stronger hc class comes out… thats the only way this makes sense. If they draft a qb McCarthy can develop him and then they cut ties when they find their guy

Such an odd hire. Is it possible that PIT really didn't push Tomlin out and he just genuinely wanted to step down? McCarthy is the kind of coach that you hire if you're going to sign a vet QB and keep going down their path of pushing for the last playoff spot every year without a real chance to advance, as opposed to a longer term rebuild. And if that's the path just keeping Tomlin makes more sense. Maybe Tomlin just genuinely wanted a break or a new situation though so McCarthy is the replacement to lead that type of team. That's the only way this makes sense.

And I say "makes sense" through the view of accepting the premise of wanting to be a treadmill team, which I don't agree with in the first place.

I don't think McCarthy is the worst hire, but honestly, he's a blah hire because you will get the same thing you had with tomlin... good enough to be competitive, not good enough to win...

guess it will all depend on what the steelers can do to fill the qb spot... they are in desperate need of an arm...

McCarthy? If I were a Steelers fan, I would be very disappointed they chose some ambulatory statue rather than the sort of vigorous, probably younger coach who might successfully oversee a rebuild.

I guess we won't have to worry about the Steelers for quite a while now.

The Steelers endless doom loop continues. This franchise thrives for endless 9-10 win seasons and one and done in the playoffs. Watch them sign Geno Smith after the Raiders cut him.
