I disagree with this 100% but I'm not going to get into it at length except to say Parcells' powers were stripped AfTER Kraft got wind of Parcells making moves with his future coaching loyalty the prior year. This is a lengthy sequence of events that isn't Kraft's fault, but Parcells's.

People have selective memories. Parcells would not commit to be the coach long term. He was saying he was "year to year". Kraft did not want a guy with a short term outlook having long term personnel decisions. That is why those duties were taken from him.

Kraft/Grier on the other hand handcuffed Carroll by allowing the players to go behind his back and over his head.

Kraft did wear a stopwatch at the syracuse pro day with Tebucky Jones. He did not use it but he was wearing one. Big deal! if I was going to a proday I would wear one and use it just to see if my times match. It is his toy, let him play.

Kraft was never Like Jones, being on the sidelines during a game or sending down plays or picking players.

New York media, radio, print and internet, have an enormous inferiority complex now about the Boston sports teams. The New Jersey Dwarfs' fans have an irrational hatred of the Patriots and their fans. Considering the 2 SB wins over NE, you'd think that wouldn't be the case. But, it is. And,we all know about the Jests. The Yankees can't hold the Red Sox' jocks since 2004. My college roommate lives in NJ and he's always telling me how the NY teams and their fans used to look at the Boston teams as inferior. I'll say it again: in 1994, after a 5-11 season, Parcells had had contact with another team. He was preparing to leave. He even asked Kraft to redraw his contract and eliminate the buyout (Parcells had a special clause requiring him to pay a buyout to move elsewhere). Ostensibly, he told Kraft he was getting ready to retire. Kraft got wind of Parcells' treachery, so he didn't allow him "to buy the groceries." Which is smart.

They would rather talk about other peoples football than hockey and the Knicks/Nets are awful. I don't know of any NY sports radio that can talk hockey, Michael Kay tried when the Rangers made their cup run a few years ago and had to be corrected a few times.
