Mmmm, salty chicken.

Oh, man.... I was just thinking about some real chinese dishes (I made an "American" Chinese dish for dinner tonight), and you posted this. It does bring a question to my mind, though. When are you going to send me about 10 pounds of Szechuan peppercorns so I can make an enormous batch of my 10 spice powder?

Let me see if I can get those in the local grocery store here. I'll PM you if I can.

just in case more vick threads crop up.

You don't know me from Adam, so I'd never seriously ask you something like that. I was really just joking. But, if you want to check on that stuff, please, don't let me stop you. The worst that can happen is we'll laugh at how expensive it is over here.

P.S. The ten-spice powder is Barbara Tropp's take on the traditional five-spice. Before she died, she wrote a couple of books on Chinese (and Chinese-American) cooking. The powder recipe was in the book entitled China Moon, along with a lot of other pantry items. I use the powder, and a marinade recipe she has in there, all the time.

LOL! There are even better things here to keep your mind off your problems.

Sounds good. I love spicy food. Anyway, I would be happy to check that out and if it seems appealing to you I have no problem trying to send some back that way.

If you would be willing to check it out, that would be tremendous. Also, find out what the shipping/handling would be on a few of those "better things" (Joan Chen/Michelle Yeough style is a big "Yes!", Bai Ling style is a big "No, thanks").

On a related note...I went out looking for an old fashioned wood back scratcher...went EVERYWHERE...from Christmas Tree Shoppe to Wal-Mart....all I got was "used to cary them", "haven't seen them in years", "what?????".

The I went to a local Chines grocery....bought a ten pack of 18 inch bamboo scratchers with the hand at one end for 12 bucks....put 'em all over the place...the den...the garage...all the vehicles...heaven.

Thank God for the Chinese

As a follow-up, I just moved and all my books are still in boxes. When I find that one, I'll get those recipes for you. I have no idea how long it'll be but, since I can't find the recipe on the internet for you, I'll bust hump until I find the book. Heck, I need it anyway. I'm just hoping I didn't put it in my box of "favorite things" which seems somehow not to have made the trip with me.

Ironically it is very easy to get the "real thing" here, but very difficult to get the paper or film versions.

Thanks. Sorry the "favorite things" box didn't make it! That's awful and ironic.

Good news, because your post was off-topic.

Of course, this is a few posts after Tunescribe dropped -

Hmm, Tunescribe now wants the thread 'on topic' - seems mighty convenient now that he's been given some facts to chew on. Decide for yourselves...

Lord knows I've been trying to get this thread back on topic.

The topic is salty chicken and Chinese porn, right?

If it isn't, it should be.

frankly, I preferred the bamboo back scratchers --- can we get back to that?

give us permission to use the 'salty' language that this topic so richly deserves.

I think the thread should be locked before one of us uses the salty language, and gets banned. The more i read , the more angry i get. Maybe tonight is just not a good night for reading about football. Think i'll go to the arcade.

Why not hit the **** fights instead?

Why do you insist on proving yourself an idiot? All my posts have directly addressed the Vick issue, including the one you're calling into question. TriplecHamp's did not.

Really? OK...

Anyway, back to the subject at hand - Chicken.:singing:

I don't know if it is an urban myth or not. But the way I understand it chicken are bred so fast at Purdue they don't even have beaks before they are ginsu-ed. Where is the public outcry.?
