Meat on the bone
Part of being a good GM is making fair deals, particularly when you gain goodwill, by conceding to a trading partner, holding a 3-4-5-6-7 Straight Flush.

It’s a stupid positive spin aftercthry got the most they could that they could have gotten more.I'm guessing he means that the Patriots willingly didn't go for as much as they could (like a first rounder). Instead, they took the second as a show of good faith, so teams will trade with them in the future.
It's just a stupid positive spin on them not getting the most they could out of trading Jimmy.

That would be a gymrat thread.Seriously thought this was gonna be about our defense needing to eat more meat to become stronger. Disappointed.
And he had a good poker handI'm guessing he means that the Patriots willingly didn't go for as much as they could (like a first rounder). Instead, they took the second as a show of good faith, so teams will trade with them in the future.

But you’ve got to remember that Cassel came with a very pricey franchise tag, too. Ultimately, you’re probably right that it was a bit of a “gift,” but it’s quite possible that the Vrabel throw in was due to him having lost a couple of steps, as well.Correct.
A deal to favor your trading Partner exhibit A:
March 2009: NE gifts the new KC GM Scott Pioli a present:
QB Matt Cassel, and one if it's All-Time Clutch performers, LB Mike Vrabel, for a paltry 2nd RD pick.
No. Vrabel was going to be a cap casualty so he was thrown in as a favor to vrabel. Cassel wasn’t getting more than a 2nd.Correct.

Wasn’t it more likely because the dopey Browns FO left early the day of the trade deadline and missed the opportunity to make a bid?
I find it hard to believe that every GM or similar positioned officer doesn’t have the cell phone number of his counterparts. Unbelievable. You shouldn’t need to sit at your desk near a landline to communicate in 2017.
One would hope so, anyway....My point was that this organization doesn’t trade players to teams based on respect for the player or what the player might want more. It’s about what’s best for this team at this time.
unfortunately Jimmy's more of a top pair top kicker or maybe even a set. looks pretty on the flop with limited information...however, we dont know how the others are going to bet and what the turn and river bringMeat on the bone

Pretty sure everyone missed the premise of the thread. You are missing the premise of this tread.
A good General Manager, in every sport, does well when they are well respected amongst their peers. If an unfortunate, in-season injury may occur, it is always good to have built-in currency with other teams, to help fill that potential crucial need.
