Maybe not pats related any more but diggs ended up not guilty

A year one law school student could have won this case with the evidence that Diggs had which was simply a security camera footage of her dancing immediately after the time she had the incident happened and she was hurt and a receipt of him paying her of which she claimed he didn't.
Once the prosecution rested, their case was so atrocious I thought the judge was going to end it right then and there with a directed verdict of not guilty. I guess she didn’t want to risk the bad press that may have generated.

I think some people wanting him back are not remembering right. He wasn't cut because he had a court case pending. He got cut because his '26 cap hit was gonna be $26.5m they tried to restructure that and he said no.

I know Wolf said door is open. But usually when you restructure someone you have your number and it's highly doubtful they are going to go up on that number which was a number Diggs declined.
The new trouble that Diggs got into post 2025 AFCC also played a part IMO.

I didn’t watch any of it, but reading the description of the accuser behavior and testimony I was wondering if this case is an example of prosecutors and law enforcement being so worried about being perceived to be giving athletes and other celebrities special treatment that they end up treating them unfairly by being more harsh and skeptical than they would be with the average citizens? Would this even have been prosecuted if it were any of us?

I agree 100% and think what you wrote is exactly the situation. If it wasn’t a famous athlete, any prosecutor worth his salt would have said “the woman is totally unreliable, there’s zero evidence of assault (to say nothing of proof beyond a reasonable doubt), I’m not going to waste everyone’s time.”

But with the situation being national news, going easy on a pro athlete accused of assault would look bad.

Re-watching games from last year, I was once again knocked out by how good Diggs was (as, indeed, were Hollins, Boutte and Douglas (when properly used)). His ability to make clutch catches under pressure for third downs was exceptional.
Absolutely during the regular season!!

She should have taken the $$$ he offered her initially an ran.. she went to a trial and lost.. that's usually how civil "money grab " cases go..

Yep. Settling is cheaper than paying a lawyer, even if the case has no merit at all. But as soon as they get greedy things change.

Absolutely..this is very common in civil cases.. it actually got to a trial very quickly compared to other civil suits. She was asking for 5m now she likely gets nothing.. unless she filed a PI for him putting her hands on her?

FWIW this was the criminal trial. She can still sue him in civil court.

Of course, given how badly Diggs’ chief of staff handed this woman her ass on the stand, I think she’d be wise to just drop the whole thing at this point.

Thank you!! I was trying to figure out wich it was thought it was the civil. Yes your correct in that case they will likely settle that out of court her only saving grace is she has photos of the bruises..

Yes, I think she tried to shake him down before going to the cops. When that didn’t work she could not just sue him in civil court for the assault without reporting it to the police or she’d be laughed out of court. She got greedy and it backfired on her.

It didn't backfire yet.

It will have backfired if there is no future out-of-court settlement. As you said, reporting it to the police is a useful step.

Maybe already discussed...

1. Would you rather pay premium $$ for Brown at X, let Boutte go, and roll with Williams & Pop at Slot...
2. Or stick with Hollins, Boutte at X, and sign Diggs back as full-time slot (let Pop go)

Diggs was great when coming out of the slot. Teams really keyed on him on critical downs in the playoffs. I would try to re-sign him. Dobbs and Boutte/Williams on the perimeter with Diggs in the slot. That's a pretty solid core.

Also, gold digging whores are gonna be gold digging whores. That chef made a fool of herself.

Doubs?

There will probably be some settlement to make it go away, because of the photo. But it won’t be as rich as she hopes. If her hopes are too high it might actually go to court, or at least make it onto a docket. Thing is, I’m thinking she’s not going to want to settle for the money that will be offered, but she doesn’t have deep pockets for a lawyer so her lawyer will end up calling the shots. He won’t want to go to court after seeing her performance in this trial. So he’ll probably make her settle pretty quickly, before he has to do a lot of work for a small contingency fee. The amount she gets may be less than she was offered before she went to the cops. So if that’s how it plays out it will have backfired. Of course we’ll never know the details. Just knowing how this trail went seems the picture is pretty clear though. It was not a huge success for her.

It’s interesting that the Barmore case was thrown out and Diggs was found not guilty. It was like people were trying to cause a distraction for the team.

Found "Not Guilty", that means he didn't do it?
Lmfao
Have you watched any of the trial? If you have it is pretty clear that this was nothing more than a spurned lover looking for revenge and money. The DA should be embarrassed by filing these charges. Never should have gone to trial. And hurts women who are actual victims of abuse.

Thought this was an interesting article. It seems to suggest he really wants to come back to the Pats. And his lawyer’s comment seemed to echo some of our discussion on here:
In a written statement after the verdict was read, Diggs' attorney Mitch Schuster said 'fame and financial success shouldn´t strip someone of their presumption of innocence, but too often, it does exactly that.'
