I look at Matt Ryan and I see Drew Bledsoe. Absolutely a talent you can win with, all the tools and skills are there, but there's also flaws -- mental errors and bad chances that will prevent you from going all the way with him unless the stars allign just right.
So he's your QB because replacing him is risky and there's no need for it, but he's also very frustrating because he's not really the best out there and his existence precludes any idea of getting a guy better than he is. That's the tradeoff for good quarterbacks who are not great quarterbacks.
If we had never found TB12, Bledsoe would probably have finished his career here. We started doing a lot better when we got him than we had before. But these guys aren't the elite of the league, and the decision to stick with the probably-good-enough QB or take a spin on the wheel to try to land an all world talent is never quite a settled one.
