Mason Rudolph

Lauletta's arm is just so painfully weak though. Rudolph's isn't a rocket but it's lightyears ahead of Lauletta.
The main pro for Lauletta seems to be his accuracy for the short to intermediate timing passes, and his attention to detail. The main con is his lack of arm strength.

The main pro for Rudolph is his big strong arm and ability to make more throws. The con for Rudolph is that he played in that spread offense with little practice in moving/looking off safeties and changing pre-snap reads, etc. In a way, it sounds like he basically played backyard ball with very little pro-ready experience.

Luke Falk is the best remaining QB IMHO, but I'd be happy with Lauletta, Woodside, White or even Kanoff as smart, developmental prospects

I think they should take a shot with Kanoff, no matter what. It isn’t going to cost much, if anything. He may not even be drafted. If so, it would be a late round flier.

Curran seems to think that there’s a decent shot that Manziel is brought in as competition. I’m guessing as a camp arm. He suggested as much during the podcast, yesterday. I’d probably lean more towards bringing Kanoff on board b/c he’s not a douche, but either way, I think there are some benefits to having two more QBs during camp. It’s even possible that they bring them both in and scratch the idea of drafting anyone in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Me too, bud. Me too.

No matter what, I’d still be fairly excited with any of the following: Rudolph, White, Lauletta, Falk.

I listened to the same Pod, different episode, about Lauletta this time. Felt awesome about the prospect of him in Foxboro too. I also had the opposite thought about White that, gee, maybe you could have put a very similar description to Ryan Mallet back in the day.

Makes me wonder about what really separates guys like them from the 4 QB who went top 10. How big a gap is there in the tiers of QB in this draft?

I listened to a pod earlier about Mike White from Western Kentucky [pod was quick slants]. They had good stuff to say about his arm talent - the knock against him was bad foot speed. As a total know-nothing about the draft, the pod got me excited by this guy as a draft and develop prospect.

I'd much rather that they take this guy with a 5th round pick than waste a 2nd round pick on Rudolph.

Garrapolo didn’t even have a playbook in college.

I guess it's true for any pick, but especially a QB, it matters not one bit to me where they end up grabbing a guy if it's:

a) THEIR guy; who
b) pans out.

I get that the argument is "oh you could have waited a round to grab X player and then the QB". My counter argument is that, if the QB pans out, it was 100% the right choice to get the guy earlier and not risk losing him. A QB panning out is an insanely valuable thing to occur for a franchise.

We're talking about finding a back-up QB with at least 2 years of development behind Brady.

If you give White 2 years to improve his footwork and pocket awareness, he might actually turn out to be good. I don't see anyone investing higher than a 5th round pick to find out.

Rudolph just seems to be an "okayish" college QB that's being over-hyped. Some dumb team is probably going to reach for him in the 2nd round.

I sort of agree. This draft's QB pick, assuming they make one, ought to be a guy they think can start after the 2 year development you mentioned. My point is, even if it takes a higher pick like a 4th to grab the guy they think will develop best, I'd rather they pay that extra cost and get the guy.

I think I just found our QB. Logan Woodside

He's a handsome kid. That means we draft him. Book it.

I'm just having a really hard time picturing Rudolph as our QB of the future but who knows?

I’m thinking we could get him with a later pick. Honestly, I think they just wait till next year or maybe draft a qb in the later rounds. I don’t see spending a two right now

The QB class next year doesn't seen anything to write home about.

I know. This part of this class tho is kind of lack luster. I may have to eat these words later but will do so gladly if proven wrong

Trade up if we want Rudolph.
I don't know that we do

I doubt they trade up. I’d be surprised

Welp. Helpfully the Steelers don’t haunt us with this one.
