True, but it’s not the first time has used his Vulcanic powers to mind meld a team into releasing a player and then melded the teams ahead of them on waiver priority to pass on him. He used similar psychic overrides to get Blount back from the Steelers. He was going to do the same thing with Talib but he got pissed off when Talib admitted he sat out the AFCCG because of a bruise, so he decided to get Talib to shoot himself and made Manning’s arm fall off instead.

I could see him ending up on IR sooner than later but perhaps returning in 2018.

I could also see him playing the year out. Packers fans are infuriated by the fact that he's even practicing, and it makes some sense I guess. A ton of Packers players from the past and present have come out in support of this doctor which seems genuine, so I don't know what to make of it. I don't like to call people liars just because the person they're accusing has a good record.

People are different.
Outside of football the majority of people can love their doctor and their care while someone else feels that their particular care was mis-handled. Nobody needs to be a liar.

What I'm still confused about is if his injury kept getting worse and now really bad as he said, and the opinions of the other doctors was to get it fixed, so now why/how is he still able to play?

I'm not sure why you can't agree with it. It makes perfect sense. Hell, that same team, the Green Bay Packers, is looking at that same situation with its best player, only with regards to coming back post-op or not, rather than op/wait.

Common sense dictates that they fail the Play offs, but if common sense was always right in sports, there would be no reason to play any game. MB gave up BEFORE they were de facto eliminated. With these stories the truth is somewhere in the middle.

The job of an NFL team doctor is to ensure an NFL player can play in a game and ensure they can physically live up to the contract in which he has with the team.

Additionally, if the player pulls himself out of action he does not make money.

So the player/ doctor relationship is a fascinating dynamic. In theory they are both motivated for the player to play and see the contract to the end. However circumstances and motivations can change with the weather.

Summary:

Bennett passed GBY's medical exam (including, he claims, and X-ray) when he signed his 3-year contract with them.

Bennett played the first seven games of the season with GBY even though his shoulder was bothering him. He claims he reported the issue (almost) every week to the team doctor/medical staff. He was apparently on pain meds prescribed by the team doctor.
Bennet claims the team doctor examined him (at Bennett's request) after their week-5 win over Dallas and diagnosed the injury (torn rotator cuff and labrum, probably partial) - but "minimized" potential long term consequences, and suggested that he thought Bennett could safely continue to play through it (and he may well have been correct). GBY never recommended surgery, as far as we know.

Rodgers suffered his season-ending injury early during the week-6 game.

During the BYE week (week-7), Bennett claims that he "cleansed" himself of pain meds and the shoulder really started hurting. He consulted "outside doctors" who apparently told him that he should have surgery immediately.

After "pondering" his options, he apparently informed the team that he'd elected to have the surgery and made some noise about possibly retiring (which he later recanted).

However, Bennett apparently practiced with GBY during week-8 and he was de-activated for the game (MNF).

Two days later, GBY waived him and filed a grievance claiming that Bennett had not disclosed a pre-existing injury (in an apparent attempt to recoup signing bonus money).

The Pats successfully claimed Bennett (even though they're #30 in waiver claim priority). Bennet went on an epic Instagram rant condemning GBY management generally and the team doctor specifically. The rant essentially ended with, "Well, f**k it!" and he was practicing with the Pats the next day.

This seems to indicate that he has reversed his decision about surgery and has decided to try to play through the injury - at least for now.

Again, there is a difference in having 0% chance mathmatically and having 0% chance inside some fans' head.

If Brady went down, you wouldnt give up on the season, because we could win if other factors rise up. Same can be said to other teams. Its a lot harder and very unlikely, but it's not impossible

I think people are defending MB because he ended up here. If that wasnt the case i dont think there would be this amount of support for him.

I dont think MB is completely innocent and got screwed in GB. IMO he gave up on them, plain and simple, because AR went down, not because he wanted surgery and his doctor didnt.

He wanted to have surgery to be ready for next season when AR is back. Team doctor said his injury was manageable. He did not see why he should sacrifice his body for a meaningless season. Team thinks having him there give them a chance to win. Situation got ugly and here we are.
There is a time for everything. A time to attack and a time to retreat. People will call him a rat and a quitter, but I see him as being smart for recognizing the situation for what it was. Greenbay as currently constructed may not even beat the Browns. Why play for such a team when you are not healthy?
