Mark Daniels on the fall of Mac Jones

He did it in 2023 again with Dan Orlovsky (@ ESPN). And I'm sure he was admonished for going outside the organization in 2022. And yet he did it again. This time to a member of the press (sorta).
Players talk to former coaches and personal trainers all the time. This was overblown and put out there to make Mac look bad. Probably by BB or Patricia because he was butthurt that Mac wasn't accepting the ****ty coaching situation he was in.

I hope to never see him in a Patriots uniform again.
I hope whoever decided to sign him never gets to sign anyone again.

But buckle in. JJ's got a hefty contract so he's probably not going anywhere. They could theoretically cut him and absorb the cost but that nice cap situation the Pats are in could go away real quick if that happens.

Agreed! Legendary 6x championship HCs also text players on other teams before and after games too...

That whole "Mac went outside the building" thing never sat right with me. So it plays out like Mac calls some coach from Alabama (maybe Saban. Maybe not). And then that person calls BB and says "Hey, I spoke with Mac the other day" and then his reaction is to put that out in the press as a negative rather than talking to the kid about it. I mean, he probably did but I'm speaking more to the lack of trust that Mac got from his former coach (or whoever spilled the beans or whatever) and his current one at the time.

And people wonder why things broke down.

Absolutely, correct! What I really believe is Bill felt like Mac showed him up by going to bama.. so it likely embarrassed Bill.. I agree with all.your other points as well. The relationship as a whole between coach and player just eroded. They likely felt they had trust between each other.

The thing is, no one would have known about it if BB (or whoever) didn't put it out there. The kid was in his second year. He needed guidance. BB (or whoever) could have kept that in-house but chose not to.

Your right, but that information came from the Herald reports right? After the 2022 season? I believe it was from people at the top and lower level staffers in the organization.?

It's hard not to think he is to a degree. He had some of the worst coaching in the NFL over the last 2 years and that includes the recently fired head coach.
He was bad with McDaniels too. I don’t think it’s a coaching problem. It’s pretty clear he wasn’t really coachable and preferred to do thing his on way.

If you don't think Brady consulted with people outside the organization for help on his game, you are kidding yourself. There has to be more to it than that. I am sure most QBs, at the the ones who want to improve their game, look to outside sources for help.

I am guessing that the way he asked for help was the issue and he probably told whoever he was talking to that Patricia and Judge didn't know what they were doing and he needed help and that got back to Belichick.

What kind of revisionist history is this? Mac played very well for a rookie. Not anything special but more than competent.

He was fine with MacD, it wasn't until the clowns came in when he looked for guidance, you blame him? It's his career and his living, he was trying to be better, not sure why that's a knock on him.

The Pats are stuck with him. He's got a $12.26M dead cap hit. 2025 is when he'll most likely be gone.

I hope we just eat it and move on. He's injury prone and just going to clog up the depth chart.

Mac Jones when he found out that Bill Belichick was fired:

They all share in the blame. Mac for the way he handled things and Bills response.

Ultimately Mac’s play on the field the last two years wasn’t good enough and that’s why he’s being replaced.

Lol, when I read this I wonder, what happened to the Patriots? The last few years the place became a drama filled reality show: The Real Housewives of Foxboro. Place had more leaks than the Titanic. Everyone was leaking: Belichick, Mac, Patricia, BoB, Mayo, Jonathan, Trent, JackJones, and bunch of other players.

I remember when Slatter pronounced those cryptic words about the players a few years ago, a bunch of us thought Bill had lost the locker room. Bill's Team called us all haters. Lol, turns out place has been falling apart for years.
