Mark Daniels on the fall of Mac Jones

Unless I misinterpreted the article we could keep him this year. I would only Trade him if somebody gives us a Fourth but not anything less.
Mac Jones can’t be on this team next year. Except if you want him poisoning the locker room because he doesn’t like the new OC.

Same with me. I didn't mind the idea of trying to upgrade from the position and thought Juju was a great fit and he was productive in the SB so how bad could they be. Boy was I ever wrong.
I wouldn't mind them eating most of his contract in a Trade and move on: Juju was just too dam slow. He will not get any better and his arrow is pointing downward. The Draft is too deep at WR go with a young guy instead.

My impression is Mac is a front runner that never had to deal with this level of adversity.

The next step is up to him.

Actually he had to deal with it at Alabama, but stuck it out, that was a primary reason I thought he might have the mental toughness to make it. I was clearly wrong.

Read the article. Didn't feel like it was an excuse piece.

Mac absolutely contributed to his own failures, but coaching and lack of talent contributed as much or more.

I still think Belichick is one of the greatest football tacticians ever, but younger generations don't want to be dealt with in that way. You can use the work "coddled" if you want, but it doesn't make it any less true, and you have to deal with it and adapt regardless of you feeling towards it.

worked fine 25 years ago, and there were enough good players who could act as a go between.

idk where he'd be if things were handled differently. He might still be 3rd string, but as a coach, you job is not just Xs and Os, its also managing people and for all Belichick has done ( I never thought I'd see one superbowl trophy in my lifetime, nevermind 6), one thing hes seems to never been good at is the overall commination skills, particularly the younger kids who do need that.

I am NOT in that age group., but if you stop looking at this as "i'm playing football" and more as a "job/business" (most of us here would play for free, but thats bc we cant LOL), would you put up with that? would you not feel that at the very least, if you're going to be judged on results, you should be set up to succeed?

kinda went off on a tangent there, but oh well, whatta ya gonna do LOL
Yeah I think this article is a good explanation why BB was shown the door.

Mac could play significantly better with Talent around him good competition for the Rookie. I am sure Mayo's take on WR's won't be like his old Boss.

Now Curran made an episode with Mac QB coach.

Mac PR in full force.

We can’t cut this guy soon enough

Huh? Mac Jones will make talented players just look worse than they are. He doesn’t have the field sense to make the right decisions, his arm has gotten worse, and he folds under pressure. He will be getting the ESPY. for the Most Game Losing Drives in February.

Honest Question…what’s the “Corky” reference? Guessing it’s pop culture that I’m missing.
His middle name is McCorkle as in Michael McCorkle Jones.

"Corky" is the name of a character with Downs Syndrome on a TV show in the 90's named, "Life Goes On".

Article after article about the dysfunction going on in Gillette. Hoping that Mayo is able to stabilize things in the locker room.
Cut Mac and it’s fixed

Cut Mac and it’s fixed
Mac wasn't the only issue but he is one of the few lingering contributors to the dysfunction. Bill, Patricia, and most of the offensive coaches will all be gone so that's a start at least.

Few QB's are Tom Brady. I know it is fair to compare the two since they both play(ed) for the same team. All QB's who play for the Pats in the future will be compared, rightly or wrongly, to the GOAT. It's a ridiculously high bar to clear.

You also have to take into account that Brady didn't have to deal with the lack of talent his first three years and three different OC's (one being a career defensive coach).

Brady hardly had any talent in his first three years here as the starter. Let's review:

2001: Good OL, Antowain Smith was the RB and had a great season, TE? Wiggins was a fan favorite...but that was his ceiling, and at WR we had Troy Brown who put forth a career year and David Patten basically.

2002: Did not really upgrade at any offensive position in the draft nor FA.

2003: A little better with Kevin Faulk's and David Givens' emergence, drafting Daniel Graham, and also Deion Branch who was SB MVP that year.

But yeah...same OC (Weis) all five years from 2000-2004 before Weis went to Notre Dame, but Weis was knocked out by complications from a gastric bypass surgery in 2002 and missed some time, IIRC.

Comments on the OP/Article:

a.) I didn't know about the stinger in Germany. That makes a lot of sense....but he should have taken a sack vs. throwing with a numb arm....crazy.

b.) Yup, Jones cannot freelance..... throwing cross your body is not the play to make even if you are Mahomes....but especially not if you aren't known for arm strength and throwing off platform.

c.) I agree that Jones could see a resurgence somewhere else more structured. Personally, I'd ship him to the Niners for a 5th round pick. They were interested in him 4 years ago before going with Lance. And Jones could play within the Niners' system....solid OL, two RB's in Deebo and CMC, and solid targets in Kittle/Deebo/Aiyuk. He wouldn't have to improvise...and would be a great back up for Purdy. But not sure the Niners would see that as an upgrade over Darnold. Another option would be to ship him to the Vikings....if Cousins bolts in free agency....or even if they resign him to a massive deal...they could use Jones over Mullens/Dobbs...both of whom seemed to not play too well last year.

Not the 1st we heard this. There was a report that Mac would audible out of a play to just ignore the receiver that new play called for.

I can see why BoB left (was left) and why Mayo appears to be looking for OCs outside the old Pats system. He needs to clean house on the offensive and ST sides of the coaching staff.
Wait, did you hit post reply too soon? You forgot the parts about how it was BBs fault and BB never added any value to the team.

I agree that last years JJSS cannot make the opening day roster next year. It probably makes sense to see if his knee improves with another off season of rehab since the team won't get anything for him.

We can't keep Juju just because of that bad contract we have enough cap to absorb it. Mayo have to put his stamp on this Team doing it with good players and not Deadwoods Juju is on the BB/GM tab so too Parker who is way cheaper to cut!. Aside from Pop Douglas we are Dog shi!t @WR it's that bad.

You have dozens of friends with children with developmental disabilities? I don't think I have a dozen friends total.

That doesn't see right. You seem like a friendly man about town type of guy. I am calling BS. I bet you have at least a baker's dozen worth of friends.

Lol, you spent the entire season making fun of Mac (I was w/ you) but now you would keep him? You need a new dealer. Lol
