Manning to Retire?

I so wish this would happen, can you imagine Denver without Manning, we would be the prohibitive favorite next year in the AFC. Our biggest competition would probably be either the Colts or Chargers.

I wouldn't write off the Texans. With a decent coach and a moderately good QB to replace Schaub, that team could be scary with its existing talent. It was 12-4 the prior season.

I understand what you're saying, but by comparison that would be the mildest thing other fan bases have ever said about us!

That comes with the territory when you've been very successful, so I don't mind that.

On the other hand, I'm tired of the GOAT talk centering around Manning.

This.

Also, Manning is not giving up atleast one more year of the most overpowered WR/TE group in NFL history.....

Thomas
Thomas
Welker/Edelman
Decker

I think after 2014 when the group breaks up, Manning retires at 39.
I'm no fan of Manning, but I have to give the devil his due. Those guys are not even remotely the "most overpowered WR/TE group in NFL history." Without Manning, or perhaps one of the other top-5 QB's in the league, none of them would scrape 1,000 yards (and with Tebow, they barely got half that).

I think I may be one of the few fans out there to feel this way, but when it really comes down to it, from a competitive standpoint relative to the Pats, it makes zero difference to me if Manning returns or retires; the Pats have a good chance next year regardless, IMHO. The only thing I really feel about Manning retiring or not is I don't want to see him truly hurt.

Incarcerated Bob probably should be...incarcerated, that is. He has no source to tell him anything about what Peyton Manning thinks about his future. Incarcerated Bob has been wrong a whole bunch, which is why I find it hard to believe that people still listen to him. I think he just makes claims with the hope that he's right, which makes him look good.

Who IS this guy, anyway?

The guy won't even put his real name to what he says.

It's just gossip, as far as I'm concerned.

Has Rob Lowe confirmed it yet? Until then I won't believe it.

(sorry if someone already made this joke, I haven't read all the pages)

How does he get "up" for the upcoming year after such a brutal beatdown. I would think defeat would set in. He did every preparation humanly possible and they got smashed.

If anything...if he won it i could really see a retire...but having another chance...he will go for it. His "legacy" needs it

Which is why teams that lose the Superbowl generally don't get back there, I expect.

Preseason strength of schedules are beyond worthless. I don't believe for a single second that the upcoming season's strength of schedule is even remotely a factor in Manning's decision.

I didn't believe for a single second that it was part of Manning's decision process. On the contrary, I said there was a 99.998% chance he'd be coming back and I accounted for the other .002%.

The Broncos are going from playing the NFCE and AFCS last year to the NFCS and AFCE this year. Anyone who would call that a meaningless fact should be able to come up with something better than it's "beyond worthless" for a reason.

Shoot.

Because every year the preseason SOS ends up being one thing, then the actual SOS at the end of the year is considerably different.

Hey, I recognize that this is the offseason so there's not much to talk about.... but preseason SOS is beyond worthless.

"Incarcerated Bob"

Man, I am so glad we don't have a creditable source for this. I mean, if this guy says so, it must be true!

We're talking about this guy, right?

Have you sued your parents for naming you Uncle Meat yet?

Actually his parents named him Meat and his nieces and nephews call him Uncle.

How many times does Manning have to address this talk before people start believing him, instead of some hack (IB) who's rarely ever correct?

Peyton claimed a few weeks ago that he envisions playing until he no longer has a passion for the game anymore, whether that's 1-2-3 more years. He said repeatedly that he wants to continue playing, and why wouldn't he? They've built a nice team around him, he rarely ever gets sacked or beat up, and they've been favored in like 30+ straight games or something.

hmmmm...sounds like Peyton Favre to me, Supa...

Actually, I thank them for it every day, and they get royalties.

I don't claim to have insider knowledge about player transactions. You have a guy like Adam Schefter who is a professional, and you can trust that he does have sources and can therefore trust what he says to a large degree. Then you have a guy like Incarcerated Bob, and you don't even know who he is. You look at his track record, and can't really trust what he says. What he says is just another rumor as far as I'm concerned.

Simple.

Not everyone uses their real name on the internet, and choosing not to use one's real name doesn't mean that someone is inherently unreliable. Tom Curran's screen name here at Patsfans.com is not Tom Curran, for example.
